Get my new tatties from here for years but prices way too expensive so don't buy as much now at the beginning of the season I paid 18 pounds for two bags one washed and one not. The taste not the same either sorry about this but I am very disappointed

Found this farm shop / cafe by chance as driving past and decided to stop for some lunch. So glad we did. We were very impressed with both the shop and cafe. The staff were lovely. The menu isn’t big but the quality was high. Food was freshly prepared to order and ours was delicious. Although we didn’t have any cakes, there was a large selection on display that looked very appetising. Everywhere was very clean and sitting in the cafe, you have a lovely view of the Ailsa Craig. The farm shop area isn’t large but the food on offer to buy was fantastic and we purchased a few items. Our experience was 100% positive - thank you.

It is different to what it was pre COVID but it is still excellent. Self service (eg same as M&S or Dobbies), but good quality produce friendly service and a great view. Will definitely be back.

Dowhill used to showcase its food wares via an excellent selection of cooked food, cakes, scones, and takeaway items. Not any more! On our visit, the selection on the menu was small and uninspiring. My daughter and wife selected a sandwich each, which was not freshly made and had to be selected from a cabinet. I selected the steak burger. The sandwiches were dry and bland; steak burger was passable, but would have benefited from the addition of side salad and/or crisps/chips. The final nail for my wife and I was the terrible service/attitude towards an elderly couple who had obviously made the effort to visit Dowhill. The couple had barely sat down when (I assumed them to be the manager/proprietor) curtly advised them,'we stop serving at 3.45, so we're not taking orders'. The time was 3.46! I am sure the couple could have been offered a selection of scones, sandwiches, or cakes with a hot drink; but no such kindness was forthcoming. As we engaged the couple in conversation, we found they had driven from Prestwick to be treated to such abysmal service. To Dowhill, I would ask them to buck up their ideas concerning customer service as well as reconsider and uprating their offerings to customers. Needless to say, we shall not be visiting again.

Really disappointed as we loved this place but today found they cannot even make a cup of tea. I asked for a pot of tea but was presented with a mug of water and a separate tea bag meaning the water was not hot enough to brew the tea when they were eventually together: tea requires boiling water. We had driven 20 miles today to specifically visit Dowhill but after my terrible tea we left without even looking at the shop and it is unlikely that we will be back. Why is it that places like this can do six or eight different coffees but cannot make a simple tea? Surely owners from a Scottish farm know how to make tea.

Very disappointed with meat rangeWanted steak for tea.All meat is frozen and £7 for a small piece of frozen rib steak is very high.We didn't dine as I am coeliac and there wasn't any gluten free choices.

This place hasn't been the same since they closed the restaurant. Why when it always seemed busy? We only went in to buy milk.

Visited yesterday and really enjoyed lunch of homemade soup and a coffee with delicious brownie for pudding. Decent lunch menu and variety of cakes on offer all homemade! Sat outside as sunny, great seating area with lovely views. Nice farm shop with local and artisan foods, gifts and home wares, purchased a few gifts from the shop! Would definitely visit again - on holiday at the moment visiting family so hope to be back next time we visit!

Been here many times with my mother in law. Always enjoyed the selection of food. I asked for a cheese and onion toasties on brown, I got a cheese toastie on white. Decaf tea no milk, had to ask for it, was told it was on the table in the restaurant. Then we had to clear our table. This use to be such an amazing place.
