Stumbled upon this fantastic spot while driving the NC500 and what a discovery! The Tartan Lounge and Bar Restaurant in Helmsdale completely exceeded expectations. The food was nothing short of amazing – everything we ordered was packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The burger was juicy and towering, fries perfectly crisp, and the haggis bites? Out of this world.

Service was superb – friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. You really get the feeling that they care about every guest who walks through the door. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, striking a perfect balance between a relaxed bar vibe and a quality dining experience.

This place is a true hidden gem along the NC500 route. If you're passing through Helmsdale, don’t miss it – it’s one of the best meals we've had on the journey. Highly, highly recommended. We left absolutely happy ❤️”
