We arrived in Helmsdale on a Sunday afternoon in our motorhome and parked for the night at the harbour. Around 5pm we had a walk into the village for a drink. Only the Belgrave Arms was open so we pushed open the door and entered. A dozen faces, all men, sat at the bar turned to look at us and we were immediately reminded of the pub scene when the hikers turn up at a country pub in American Werewolf in London. Popped in for a drink. G&T was ok and the view of the chickens from the beer garden was nice. The Beer Garden was quite poor and untidy, ssdly the beer was dreadful , cloudy and did not clear, and we had to throw it away. We left and went straight over to the Bannochburn Arms.

Definitely the best prices for a pint! The gents at the bar are great and even as a yank, still had a great time. Would recommend again if you're on the NC 500.
