Ended up running very late (owner) stayed up till midnight to let us in. And also let us stay a lot later than check out because I was waiting for a mechanic. Couldn't have been nicer the young woman who was waiting to clean the room made sure we had everything we needed as we waited. Couldn't have been nicer. Thank you so much Bannockburn inn.

Initially received negative vibes from barman but after getting drinks went into the restaurant. We were served by a very pleasant young lady who served us as you would expect. The menu wasn't the most extensive I have seen. I eventually chose chicken strips which had a variety of coatings and they were delicious. Sorry I can't remember what I had a s a starter but overall the food was good. We also spoke to another lady who I assume was the chef. She was also friendly and talkative

I read the reviews here when booking accommodations, and a few reviews weren't the kindest, so I was a little unsure as I booked the twin room with a shared bathroom. It was the first time I've ever booked with a shared bathroom. So here was my experience.Upon arriving, we found a dedicated parking lot with a parking space for each room. That was nice as some of the smaller towns can be a challenge to find parking. Check-in was as simple as some of it was completed online with a link that was emailed to us with arrival instructions. We were shown to our room. We had to walk up an older metal stair case in the back to access the rooms. It was perfectly safe. The room had everything we needed. A little coffee/tea set up, comfortable bed that was bigger than some single beds I've had. I'm 6ft 1 and was comfortable. Had two nicer pillows and not the cheap, thin ones. We had 2 very large bath towels, a sitting area for 2, and TV. The room was comfortable. The windows opened wide and let in plenty of air. The only thing missing was a fan, which would have been nice to have. The area we stayed in would be best described as a small condo. We had full access to a nice kitchen, and using the bathroom was easier than expected. The other family staying the same night as us was quiet and we only saw them once. The road noise at times was a but much but during overnight it wasn't as bad. We have a sound app on our phones, which really helped drown out the other nosies as the units aren't very soundproof. In summary, for the price, it was better than expected and would book it again.Tip: If using the bathroom or kitchen take your key with you as when your door shuts, it will lock automatically.

Called in for a drink and a meal whilst in Helmsdale. Great service from friendly staff and a lovely meal.

Dreadful food and terrible service. We both had "home made soup" which was the worst soup we have ever tasted. It had been watered down and was completely tasteless. The main courses arrived eventually after a long wait. My wife had chicken burger which she ate very little of as she said it was awful. I had the steak pie. The chips that accompanied both meals were the dregs from a bag of frozen chips. The service was very slow and unfriendly. We had to go to the bar to ask for our bill as the so called waiter disappeared into the kitchen and we waited and waited for him to return. An English man who we presumed to be the owner ignored us as we stood at the bar waiting to pay.All he was interested in was talking to one of the locals about football. Eventually the bill arrived. We payed and voiced our opinion of the meal.No apologies were offered. Never again will we set foot in this badly managed establishment.

Unassuming pub but attentive landlord and very pleasant "Sheepshagers Gold" ale despite the name!

Good place to rest up for the night ? on the NC500 route, parking space opposite the pub. Good value rooms no meals but well equipped kitchen available. Evening meals served downstairs in the pub. Excellent steak and home cooked meals. Well worth stopping at and spending a few hours walking around Helmsdale. Enjoy ? ii

Misleading banner, saying its open all year round. It was closed on Friday afternoon, what else do you want?
