We loved the food, it was excellent. We had the steak & ale pie, the gravy was so rich, mmm. And a large fish & chips. We both had lovely desserts. We had the cheese cake & ice cream and the waffle ?. Staff were all very friendly. Will definitely be back.Parking: We really needed a disabled parking space but managed to drop off the passengers.

Me and my fiancé were in for lunch. She got a tartan burger and I got Mac n chips. Both were amazing. The Mac was out of this world and needs to be tried. My other half says her burger was great. I would drive from Glasgow just to come here. Only thing was the time, but, defo defo worth it.

Dog friendly. Friendly staff. Service was quick. Soup was good but main courses weren’t so great, husband had the chicken off the specials menu & I had the tartan burger. Generous portions but taste was quite bland.

Excellent food. Excellent service. Definitely recommended. The Chicken Fajita was deeeelicious. As apparently were the Fish & Chips, and Waggon Burger

Booked in for Sunday lunch, whilst on holiday in the area. was welcomed with a friendly smile. Decided to opt for the Sunday carvery, well, absolutely amazing. Choice of 3 meats, all beautiful cooked to perfection, accompanied by fresh vegetables & Yorkshire puddings. Highly recommended if your in the area.

We attended this restaurant with my family because the ratings seem very good and lots of people seem to recommend this place. However this restaurant was a clear low-point for us in Kelso. Maybe this was a uniquely bad experience that just happened to us. We had the fish and chips as well as the meat pie. The meat tasted good and that was it. Fish had no taste, chips were bland, the coleslaw, like almost everywhere else in the UK it seems, was way too heavy and mainly just consisted of mayonnaise. The cherry on top was a stone in the salad which I luckily didn't break a tooth on.Anyways, the venue was pretty basic. The music in the room we got placed in was way too loud and very obnoxious. The staff were nice tho. They did seem very open and willing to help. I still don't understand how the restaurant was so full. I guess if you're accustomed to this level of food, why wouldn't you eat here. For us this was a hit and a big miss.

You don't need to book in advance as I just turned up, I was shown to my table, asked what I would like to drink, and given a menu. The choice was very good, once I had picked what I wanted to eat it wasn't long before it arrived and there was plenty of it.The staff are all wonderful, welcoming, and friendly. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and the service was quick .I would recommend that you try it out for yourself

Couldn't fault our experience here, the food was delicious and fairly priced along with the drinks, there was a wonderful kid friendly menu with a variety of different dishes.Myself and my partner tried our first taste of Haggis here and I was amazing. The waitresses couldn't be anymore helpful, they went above and beyond especially when I asked for a small hot chocolate for my 7 year old and asked if he would be able to have a biscoff buiscuit as well! Would highly recommend ?

Reasonably priced food. Good portion sizes. Good choice for families with children. Service was good and food came out quickly.

Been here a number of times but our meal ,a couple of days ago , really was a let down. I had the hamburger meal. Best thing was the cole slaw. The hamburger had no flavour at all. A dry piece of meat with hard crunchy salad, flavourless. Less chips too, i noticed. My husband, an older man, asked for a half portion ( child's portion) of fish and chips that sells for £12.25 for a full portion. He can't eat as much , being elderly. He got the half portion. (The batter on the fish was mushy, not crispy.) When it came to pay, they charged £10.50 for his half portion !! The Waggon has lost it's appeal for us.. The food has no flavour, overpriced ( especially this new idea of theirs to charge almost £70 for 2 for a small, tasteless looking steak for 2). We won't be returning again. Over rated, smaller portions on full price meals and over charge for child's portion and flavourless.

We went as a group and had a lovely meal, food wise. The service was very poor. We had to go and ask at the bar for extra drinks. Plus the price of wine has gone up at an extortionate rate. No need. And we're still waiting to be offered a sweet . This used to be one of my favourite eating places in Kelso, but wouldn't rush back.

Overall very happy. Only a couple of small issues.Couple of front of house staff were a little grumpy and not very hospitable. I do understand why though as you were very busy.Food was amazing apart from the salad that came with the macaroni could have done with some salad dressing.Other than that very happy with everything. Worth all the pennies :)

Been going to the waggon for quite some time and has its moments where service isn't as good but most of the time service is brilliant and food is lush!

The food here was very tasty, I had the lamb burger and my partner had the Sunday roast. They even did a gluten free Toblerone cake which was great for me. Service was excellent and staff very friendly. Highly recommend eating here.

We booked this on Sat afternoon for Sat Evening. We thought we would get there a little early and enjoy a drink at the bar before we ate. However there isn’t a seating/waiting area just for the bar, so that wasn’t possible. We were shown to our table, even though we were early. The table was very small, and tucked away in a corner. It wasn’t a good first impression. Tables are not set with tablecloths, so just bare wood and cutlery. It felt a bit like they found an old table and stuck it in a corner out of the way! We ordered drinks which arrived in a timely manner. We found the staff friendly and helpful. We both ordered starters, prawn cocktail for my wife and in all honesty I can’t remember what I ordered. For mains, we both ordered the Tartan Chicken, which arrived quickly and was well presented. There was an (over) abundance of vegetables, mostly carrots, which filled the plate. We had to ask staff for cutlery to eat the mains with, which reinforced the feeling of just being stuck in a corner at the last minute. We both found this to be very tasty, and nicely cooked. Overall we weren’t over impressed with The Waggon, but there isn’t anything overly wrong with it either. As the title says, It is what it is. Decent food for a decent price, but not somewhere we would look to visit again.
