Brusque, cash only fish and chippery. Food OK but ambiance zero. Why cash only???

Nice chippy just off town centre, nice park area short stroll across the road with benches for sitting and eating. Place was busy, food cooked fresh. Chips were hot and tasty. Would definitely go back.

Cash only ?Ordered a sausage supper and a single black pudding. The chips were alright, the black pudding was good, only one sausage and not large enough to warrant only having one.It was cooked to order but it took them a long time to even start doing so.I was concerned by how they served the customer before me though. They asked for two fish, one with salt & vinegar and the other plain, they doused both with vinegar. When the customer said he wanted one plain, they took the fish and dunked it in the frier for 14 seconds and proclaimed it to be a "fresh one"

Good flavoursome Haddock in crispy batter and decent chips. Handily placed for the Silver Craigs campsite. I braved a torrential downpour for them and they were worth it.

No complaints from me Nice chips fish cooked to order.

Great fish and chips. I thought it was quite quick to get served despite it being busy. Would definitely visit again.

Reading in advance there were some very mixed reviews, so I was interested to see for myself. It seems like food is cooked to order so it's not like a chippy where they have a load of fish and chips being kept hot, this means it takes a bit longer but it's bang fresh when you get it. Portion size was decent we had 4 fish and chips, peas, curry and a mixed pakora. 4 of us ate it the majority of it but after having missed lunch (we were there pretty much as it opened) and I'm a large, greedy man. Quality was solid. Like I said, fresh, tasty flakey fish. I've enjoyed pakora sauce more in my life but I'm really nit picking here. Service was civil and friendly enough. It's cash only so I had to pop to the cash out at tesco for money, but it's just across the road.I didnt see the problems others have reported. I very much enjoyed the visit. I'd take the negativity with a pinch of salt and make your own mind up.

The service was an absolute joke, it took an hour just for a few boxes of chips, when we finally got our order, half of it was missing, so we had to ask for the drinks he neglected to give us.Then when we sat down nearby, half of the order was missing, so we went back and told him, half of our order was missing, in front of other people, Embarrassing!!!Be Aware.. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ORDER, before leaving the shop. The haggis sausage was, disgusting, nothing like haggis at all. ?. 0/10

Enjoyed fish and chips. There was a good choice of menu and food is made to order. Good atmosphere with benches to sit on to wait for food.

Excellent chips, far better place than some local places that are on trip advisor in Kirkcudbright

Each time I go in here now, the prices go up and the portions get smaller. The food is delicious, but it wasn’t cheap to start with. Sadly it’s the only one in the town so it’s a captive market. When I mentioned the small size of the fish, the young lad just shrugged his shoulders.

Great food. Just let down by the wait. From ordering to receiving our order . Which was fish, chips and peas. And chicken and mushroom pie , chips and peas. 30mins +Cash sales only. Tesco across the road with cash machine. Would use again but would go and do some shopping instead of waiting outside. Order inside and pick up outside.Wheelchair accessibility: No steps, but could be tight getting in and round.
