We wanted to come here for ages and when we finally did, it was well worth it. We both ate from the Christmas menu and it was spectacular, huge compliments to Will, a very talented chef. The baked camembert in particular was just beautiful. We were well looked after by Megan and Ella too, service with a smile! We definitely look forward to returning.

My husband and I recently visited the auld alliance for a birthday dinner. We both ate off the Christmas menu and everything was delicious! Friendly an attentive staff and the chef is brilliant. Visited when it was a mussels & beer night so hubby had them as a starter. Made him share (had the ones done in wine & garlic) and they were absolutely delicious. Pork & trout dishes as mains, then posset and brulee for desserts. Couldn't fault any part of the evening at all, every course was spot on. Thank you for making the last night of our holiday (and an early anniversary celebration!) so enjoyable! Thoroughly recommend eating here if you're in the area.

My wedding anniversary dinner was excellent. Sadly as a real "fish lover" I was a tad disappointed with no scallops or flounder ....but we had to blame Storm Agnes for this. But the menu still provided tasty choice. All cooked and present well. Service friendly . Complimentary prosecco much appreciated. Thank you Will et al. A night to remember ✨️

I visited The Auld Alliance on my first night in Kirkcudbright. I had read the great reviews before I booked and agree that they are extremely well deserved. I was greeted warmly when I arrived and when settled at my table I was provided with water and lovely fresh bread. The menu is extremely varied and I settled for; crab, mussels and Parmesan tart, the sausages to follow and the raspberry crepe brûlée to finish. Everything was absolutely delicious and very well presented. The staff were very attentive and were happy to give me some time to finish my wine before ordering dessert. The overall cost is very reasonable compared with the high standard of food. I would highly recommend The Auld Alliance to anyone visiting Kirkcudbright.

Our visit to the Auld Alliance was a memorable experience during our one night stay, passing through Kirkcudbright on our motorcycle tour of the area. Will, the proprietor and chef, and his team made us so welcome. The food was cooked with care, skill and excellent value, as an added bonus! We will certainly be back..
