Wow, what an absolutely amazing 360 the hotel has taken since John has returned as manager! Thank goodness! Last year I wrote a review for our Christmas residential saying it was way below par under the management as was then compared to previous years! I even wrote to the Trustees as the manager at the time hadn’t liked what I had to say! I even raised concerns for the site’s World Heritage Site’s status as it was so obviously failing! Now thankfully it’s being restored to the superb hotel (and whole site - mill cafe and shop) as it was. The hotel has a totally different vibe about it once again, more than welcoming, smiling and friendly staff, decorated for Christmas brilliantly, fantastic food (compliments to the chefs) and superb accommodation! Thank you to all staff from housekeeping, reception, restaurant and the pool/gym for making our stay extra special! It means everything.Having the swimming pool open on Christmas morning, the opportunity of ice-skating on Boxing Day, all went down extremely well with us!Again, thank you John for coming back and for taking on the enormous challenge you were faced with. Your hard work, attention to detail and dedication truly shows throughout! Couldn’t find fault with anything at all. Will be returning for a stay in the future! And again, thank you so much for the turnaround.

I love staying here when I am over in Scotland for work. The location is stunning and surrounding walks are fantastic in the evening. I stayed in a riverside cottage and it is great value for the price with lovely views over the river - it is so peaceful listening to the river at night. In general I do not have any major complaints, the only complaint I would have around the food in the restaurant is the quality of the beef burgers - I was really disappointed with the meat quality and texture for the price, it was lacking any flavour and came across as cooked from frozen. I think there is a lot to be said about a nice fresh burger. The hand cut chips were great though! Other items I tried from the menu were much tastier, such as the pork belly.

Smashing place, full of architectural history. The staff were A1 from reception to the bar staff. The room was very comfortable and loved the features of the old mill structure.Good range of ale at a good price.Location is spot on and quiet.

Beautiful hotel and stunning views of the Clyde from our room - 16. After that was a catalogue of mishaps. Went for a swim , lovely leisure suite, but they had run out of towels and I had to go back to my room and use my bath towel which never got replaced. We went for our evening meal and they had run out of everything that was my initial selection. We then waited 40 minutes to get served. There was a wedding party in the hotel which played very load music till 11pm which wasn't pleasant. In the morning at breakfast the poor server had to deliver a litany of foods they had run out of sorry no haggis, no black pudding, no salmon, no sauce for eggs Benedict, no Spinach for eggs Florentine etc. The breakfast we did get was beautifully cooked but again a woefully long wait. I've read other reviews and can see that this is not the norm but it did leave me deflated over the level of service. I don't think I would chose to stay here again.

This is a beautiful site. A walk to the Falls of Clyde is a must. The restaurant meals are very good and a light lunch or drink in the bar is served by very friendly staff. Overall a lovely hotel for a short break.
