The Broomgate
18 Broomgate, LanarkMy wife and I had a delicious meal tonight. We were able to mix and match from the festive specials and a la carte menu with some great choices on offer. All 3 courses were outstanding as always, with our particular highlights being the roast turkey with trimmings and the apple, caramel and cinnamon pudding with extra caramel sauce. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We sat in the back room for the first time and were both very impressed with how cozy and warm it felt. Unfortunately no photos of the food as we couldn’t wait to get tucked in. Hands down the best restaurant in Lanark and surrounding areas!!

119 Main St, Forth, LanarkBest special fish in Lanarkshire, it's cooked separately in veg oil and what a different from anyway else
The pizza is the best outside Italy ?? I struggle to get a decent pizza, especially the base when you are used to having in Sardinia Italy. My son also agrees ?

Greggs
U2 40, 42 High St, LanarkI was a little disappointed. I wanted the roll and bacon and a coffee deal. It does state that you will pay more for a "fancy coffee," but £1 more is a bit steep, I think. Its only 50p more to go from a flat white to a cappuccino, so why charge £1 for the breakfast deal?.
Vegetarian options: I've only seen a vegetarian sausage roll, if I'm honest.
Dietary restrictions: Unfortunately they don't do gluten free!.
Parking: Parked right outside
Kid-friendliness: Kids were in when we were there and they had little kids meals.
Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of room

Highland Star
31 Smyllum Rd, LanarkIt’s been my go to restaurant for a takeaway. The only time I wanted to try a wee takeaway from a different restaurant, I got extremely disappointed. They’re so fast and their meals are to my taste, great packaging, nice fried rice, nice chicken curry, tasty chips, their lamb ribs is so yummy and crunchy and they also add something free, like chips for the kids. I love everything about them but I feel they need to improve on their portions.
Question- Do I recommend them?
Answer- YES! Over and over again ❤️
Just a wee edit: The delivery time is a bit long sometimes but I feel it’s because I ordered through just eat.

Bannatyne St, LanarkToday my son and I visited for lunch for the first time in a while. Loved the new order and pay at table system. The food was hot, fresh and impressive, especially the side order of onion rings. We expected to get 4 generic rings plucked from a freezer. See the photo for the huge helping served with a generous dish of mayonnaise. The chicken fillets were perfectly cooked and high quality. The whole meal was so inexpensive. We will be back.

Ristorante La Vigna
40 Wellgate, Lanark???????After a long online search and ten months spent in Scotland, we came across a restaurant that immediately conveyed a rare feeling, already from its menu and website: true Italian authenticity, uncompromised and untouched by trends or market expectations. A place that has chosen to remain faithful to its identity. This is how we discovered La Vigna.
On the first evening after its short winter break, thanks to a courteous, quick and efficient booking, we reached the restaurant, located on a quiet side street in the centre of Lanark. We arrived slightly late after getting lost in the countryside, but we were warmly welcomed by Tiziano, the owner and maître, whose natural elegance and kindness made us feel immediately at ease.
The interior instantly brought us back to Italy: a warm and carefully curated atmosphere, a traditional table setting, with bread and grissini already waiting for us. Given the time, we chose two glasses of wine and a starter to share: a puff pastry basket with mushrooms, asparagus and cheese, beautifully presented and perfectly balanced in flavour.
For our main courses, we selected squid ink ravioli filled with sea bass and traditional Valtellina-style pizzoccheri.
Both taste and presentation evoked memories of home. The pizzoccheri were perfectly cooked, with potatoes and black cabbage in harmony, enriched by the distinctive yet delicate flavour of taleggio, served in a warm dish with a light crust on top. Truly comforting and authentic.
The ravioli offered an elegant, refined hint of the sea: the sea bass filling was delicate yet well-defined, never overpowering. Portions were well judged, allowing us to enjoy each dish fully without feeling overly full.
Being from Milan, we have a tradition: the first dessert we try in any new restaurant is tiramisu. Once again, we were not disappointed. In such a simple dessert, true skill is revealed, and here it was executed beautifully.
To finish the evening, Tiziano served us two small glasses of Amaro Montenegro. A spontaneous, genuine gesture, just as one would expect in a beloved Italian restaurant.
All of this was accompanied by attentive yet discreet service, a sense of old-fashioned hospitality, great attention to detail and a sincere passion for Italian culture and cuisine, evident in every dish and in the warm welcome.
Highly recommended for Italians longing for a taste of home — no compromises here, as confirmed by a menu written first and foremost in Italian — but also for anyone seeking an authentic, refined and comforting dining experience. A true indulgence, not only for special occasions.
The total bill was £80, entirely in line with similar restaurants in the area. We will certainly return. If possible, we would happily subscribe. ?
Thank you for a wonderful evening.❤️

I was served by a young man with long hair (unfortunately I didn't get his name) and he was so polite and amazing, even after telling me what shots they didn’t have he went through what they did have, when my partner left to lift cash he watched my items for me when I went to the bathroom, he was so polite and genuine and I left a £10 tip (if at the time I had more cash I’d have given more) for how polite and genuine he was! That’s what service should be and I hope he feels like he’s done good at the end of every day. 2/10/24 we visited, thanks to him we will definitely visit again

The Woodpecker Bar & Restaurant
20 Wide Cl, LanarkDon't think about it, just go.
My partner and I made a last minute Christmas day booking in the area, not thinking with it being Christmas day it would be hard to find food after a much deserved sleep-in. I called several places most were closed and 1 fully booked for food services, my last ditch calls to The Woodpecker Lanark before going into Glasgow city centre and it was worth it. I explained our hunt for food and was told to come over they are serving soup and sandwiches free for Christmas Day until 1pm.
We came over expecting simple sandwiches, but instead received a proper pulled turkey with cranberry sauce sandwich and bowl of soup. The family who owns the restaurant were so attentive and welcoming, definitely like the true spirit of Christmas - love.
Marry Christmas to The Woodpecker Lanark, we will be back and recommending you to others.

P.s. the photo does not do justice to the sandwich
