Arrived here on business and found it to be a fantastic place to stay. This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. The food itself is fantastic, great presentation, lots of flavour and reasonably priced. Couldn’t fault my stay at all and would return the next time I’m in the area.Rooms: Large rooms and very comfortable!Food & drinks: Fantastic quality food!

We thoroughly enjoyed dinner here whilst on a short break in Melrose. Main courses of seatrout and pork loin were very tasty and beautifully cooked and presented. They were accompanied by a well selected choice of fresh vegetables. We followed up with hot chocolate fondants which had the perfect gooey centre. Good well priced wines complemented our food choices. Very professional but friendly service throughout. Highly recommended and the best food we ate all week.

For our two night stay we were allocated a very spacious superior room on the front of the property over looking the town centre. The luxurious contemporary furnishings and decor were much appreciated. A chez long and armchair seating enabled us to relax after local walks. The king sized bed was most comfortable. The bathroom was less luxurious but met all our needs with decent shower over bath. All breakfast items were served at our table rather than buffet style. With plenty of choice we settled on fresh fruit salad with yoghurt and granola followed by an outstanding tradional Scottish cooked breakfast with every item cooked to perfection. Porridge, croisants and egg based dishes were also available.

Yesterday my Husband and I reserved a table for dinner at The Townhouse. We were staying at another hotel in Melrose for one night while travelling further North from a weekend in Newcastle. The Townhouse staff welcomed us warmly and our dinner was absolutely delicious, served to a very high standard and the staff were friendly and very efficient. We were so impressed we have decided to return to Melrose to explore the area more and definitely will stay at The Townhouse.

We stayed in about 10 hotels in Scotland, but this was the first and the best one by far: the warm welcome, the quality of the service (bringing a heater when we were cold, immediately responding to expressed needs), family atmosphere and quality breakfast in a family atmosphere. Only the room was a bit small.

The Townhouse reflects the town. Just like Melrose itself it is small, comfortable, quiet and cosy with echoes of a less hectic age. Our room and en-suite (number 11) on the ground floor were extremely spacious. Most importantly we enjoyed 4 peaceful nights’ sleep. Breakfast was particularly good in terms of both choice and quality. The hotel team were unfailingly helpful and efficient. Melrose is highly recommended for its surprising number of excellent restaurants (in the town and nearby Gattonside) and rural walks, a good place to get away from it all.

Stayed here for a night as a base for the start of St Cuthbert's Way. Not a spectacular or "boutique" hotel, and the furnishings etc are a little tired, but it all was fine, comfortable bed, friendly and helpful staff and a nice breakfast

We stayed for two nights whilst in Melrose to support the annual My Name’5 Doddie foundation bicycle ride. We found the hotel to be well run and very flexible to accommodate our early starts and bicycle storage etc. Our room was large, comfortable and very clean (Room 11). Our bathroom was large, with a large shower and separate bath. We had drinks in the conservatory and dinner on our Sunday evening which we enjoyed. We would definitely stay at The Townhouse again when supporting this great cause as it is well run, friendly, informal and relaxed.

Attended to have a meal. The prices were reasonable for a hotel. Food was tasty and enjoyable with good size portions. Wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Didn’t manage desert but few that came out looked good.

Lovely funeral tea in a nice setting with conservatory and outdoor seating. In a handy town centre location.
