The bar itself is nice however, the barman was terrible. Rude, slow and miserable. Slow to pick up empty glasses and then double charged on the bill. The bar was not even busy. A disgrace, expect better as they charge high prices.

First visit to this bar in Portree. Cosy, decent beer, great staff. What more do people want from a pub? We’ve moved to Skye recently and this will become a regular pub to visit without doubt. Deserves to be better supported by the locals as it was quiet on. Saturday evening. Use it or lose it is my opinion. Great place. Will be back.

We loved this pub while staying in Portree! Came here multiple times since we were staying at the attached hotel but probably would have even if we weren't staying upstairs. Very cozy and great wine/beer/cocktail selection. Excellent service. Great place to spend your evening after dinner.

Great place to have a pint when you're visiting Portree. Cool 60s 70s soul music, warm vibe (there is even a TV showing a log fire burning). It feels like a classy and welcoming bar, but also chilled, you can rock up in your outdoor fleece and enjoy some reasonably-priced quality drinks. Recommended.

Merchant Bar quickly became a go-to bar while staying a few days in Portree. It's chilled while being classy at the same time. Great comfortable vibe with a log burner keeping it cosy, fantastic selection of ales and spirits. Music ranges from soulful 60s to contemporary pop-rock. Chilled out bartender enjoys having a chat. Reasonable prices. Enjoy ?

The bar is ok, but not my personal favorite in Portree. The bar is very cool, but for the rest the interior looks built for tourists. The staff is friendly, but the atmosphere can be better. This is fine, but not a must visit.

Our visit to The Merchants Bar has made our trip, despite it being exceptionally busy the 2 young bar tenders were amazing. They made my dog, Zeke, the star of the bar and made him feel so welcome which is a treat as I'm aware not all bars accept dogs. They had good chat, kept us informed with the update with a table and couldn't have done more. The food was worthy of a Michelin Star, the portions were generous and very flavoursome (Honey glazed gammon & Smoked Salmon). If you're unable to book a table, I recommend waiting as it's worth it! Then to top our experience off, everyone we met during our time in the bar were so friendly we were taken back by how much love everyone has to give...more so to Zeke (Black Lab)

Great food, exceptional service. The restaurant was fully booked, but we had food in the bar with some drinks while we waited.A young man named Tony gave the whole bar exceptional service and made sure things ran smoothly.

Service déplorable, on arrive à 18h pour boire un verre à 4 adultes et 4 enfants, on précise qu'on peut se regrouper sur 2 tables au lieu de 3 pour ne pas prendre trop de place... 10 min après le service des boissons, on nous demande de libérer la place si on ne mange pas !On dit qu'on finit nos verres et qu'on libère si du monde se présente pour manger... le seveur reviendra a 3 reprises pour nous demander de nous deplacer ou de partir. On dégage 20 min après être rentres sans avoir fini nos bières !N'entrez pas, vous risquez d'être mis dehors en un temps record :(
