Lovely hotel, full of old world charm in a great location. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our evening meal was very good.We stayed in the young tom Morris room, the bed was very comfortable and a very good sized area, however it would benefit from more lighting and a dressing table, not a complaint just something we were missing. If you are visiting St Andrews I recommend Hotel du Vin.Thank you.

Lovely hotel situated right near the sea. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was superb. The rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms were beyond what I could have possibly imagined. The only issues I found was the noise levels from the street, however that is out of the hotels controlRooms: Large with double beds and comfy pillows, good electrical plugs and a coffee machine.Walkability: Very easy access to the hotel with two points of entry from the street

I stayed here 1 night on my way to Berlin. Great staff, great service, 7 minute walk to the Old Course and right beside the water. This isn’t 5 star, but for 4 star, the hotel was a unique experience. I had a few opportunities to try the restaurants near by. There isn’t a lot, but having a car would help a lot (I didn’t). Overall, excellent experience.

This was my second time staying at the Hotel du Vin in St Andrews; I regularly visit my son who studies at the University. Unfortunately, my second time around turned out to be nowhere as good as my first stay. For starters, the room (d’Arenberg) despite having a wonderful view was cramped and too small – there was barely any space to walk around. And with a price of over £260/ night (Breakfast incl.), I was expecting a better and more comfortable room. Secondly, my room wasn’t made and cleaned until late afternoon, the excuse being that the Hotel gives priority to arriving customers. This is unacceptable and below the standards set by any 4-star Hotel, I have stayed at. However, it’s the lack of customer service that ruined my experience and pushed me to write this review. For example, on my last evening, I booked a table for 8:30 pm at the Hotel’s restaurant. Due to a commitment in Dundee (the neighbouring city), I wouldn’t have made it in time for the booking. I called the reception to warn that my son, his friend and I were going to be late and therefore asked if they could move our reservation to a later time. The restaurant manager told me it would be complicated since the kitchen closed at 8:45 p.m. We ended up arriving at 8:50 p.m. and were denied access to the restaurant for the same reason stated above. They then advised us to use the room service facility. To not waste any time, we asked if we could order from the reception directly, to which they said no since the call had to be made from the room. After trying to guess what number to use to contact the kitchen (there were no instructions on the room telephone), we finally managed to reach the reception. I asked to be transferred to the kitchen to place my order, to which the receptionist answered that there wasn’t a direct line to the kitchen and that room service orders had to be made directly through reception. Why couldn’t we have just ordered when we were downstairs at the reception? Nevertheless, we started telling the receptionist what we would like for dinner. But halfway through placing our order, the receptionist tells us that he must leave the call to go check the availability of certain dishes, however, assures us that he will call us back. After waiting 15 minutes for him to call back, we decided to call reception again. This time another receptionist answered our call, and we asked if there were any updates with our order. He answered by saying that there was no record of our previous call. A bit annoyed at this point, I decided to place our order for the second time. However, due to all this delay, we were notified that we had missed the deadline for the à la carte menu and that we could only order pre-made dishes, which weren’t suitable for dinner. As a result of the above, we haven’t eaten that evening. This is doubly disappointing since it was my last night in St Andrews, thus my last evening with my son before heading back to Italy. However, I would like to finish by saying that the St Andrews students working at the hotel were extremely kind and welcoming, but I wish I could say the same about the managing staff.

I was given an itison voucher for my birthday. I had a 3 course meal with my partner. We had the rump steak for the Main course. At the end I went to pay for the supplement for that which was supposed to be £7 each as it says on the itison website. I was told it was £8 each for the supplement so I just paid the extra £2 but I checked when I got back home and it still says £7 supplement on the itison website. Not worried at all about £2 but just the principal. Why say £7 then charge £8?Food & drinks: My food and drinks were nice and good quality

We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant thanks to an Itison voucher, and can’t wait to come back to go to the outside drinks garden next time.

We had a wedding reception on 8 June at the Hotel du Vin in St Andrews. The venue was lovely, particularly the MacAllan room and its views. The staff went over and above our expectations, helpful, polite, and charming. Our Cocker Spaniel was treated like royalty. We would like to mention Heather, Daryl, and Steven but there were others whose names we didn’t get but just as helpful.

Super stay, beautiful food - lunch, dinner and breakfast, fabulous rooms and amazing staff. Thanks to Grant & all the team for a lovely time for our anniversary spent with friends. We will most certainly return, but we are not going to mention the burnt chips !!

From the very moment I stepped into the hotel I was made very welcome. The customer service from the room attendants to management was exceptional. I must mention two Sophie reception and Hamish bistro were marvellous who are both an asset to the hotel, well done. I must admit I did get a room upgrade from a single to a double with a sea view, greatly appreciated. I can highly recommend Hotel Du Vin.
