We arrived to what started out a lovely promising visit however after the drinks were ordered and the starters came it was rather disappointing! The haggis fritters my son had were so oily I understand they a deep fried but the batter was just mushy. The prawn cocktails were pleasant however the soup was very bland it was tomato and basil, bread with the soup was lovely this was a high point. The mains eventually came after a 45 minute wait, which to be honest I wasn’t too fussed about but my husband was starving and he was a little annoyed. The fish and chips were ok again the batter very mushy not crispy and flakey and the chips were very hard as if they weren’t cooked correct. The mac and cheese very bland. The pizza this was so disappointing I had so many high hopes for this having read previous reviews however is was so chewy and the sauce base was dry and overcooked. The roasts again were ok could have used more gravy my dad actually asked for more and had to wait, when it arrived it was bistro gravy which was so not what we expected. We had intended on having a dessert but by the end of the meal we were so disappointed that we paid and left. Unfortunately it wasn’t what we expected at all, and it’s a no from me! Maybe it was just an off day but even the toilets had no toilet roll in them and another customer had to alert the staff to this

Absolutely disgusted at the way my Husband has just been treated in this establishment. Came for our anniversary meal at recommendation of work collegues being new to the area following moving up from England. We asked for a table for 2, which we were given a booth straight away. After this we waited over 15 mins for a menu, i was on the verge of walking at this point to be honest, looked at numerous times by the staff but no menu.A girl came over with the menu which she brought over, we ordered 2 drinks. When the bar woman brought the drinks over she informed my husband it was a non sports pub not allowing team colours and he was not allowed to wear the top he was wearing, which was a long sleeve Rangers training jumper.I had to watch my husband shamed in to taking his jumper off in a pub AFTER ordering our drinks. He was stood at the bar when i asked for a table should it not of been mentioned then when noticed? There is no mention of this on the website and certainly not on entering the pub, no signs what so ever.I paid for the drinks and left. I will never return to this place no matter who tells me great reviews. I suggest your staff put a notice on the website and the foyer window if this is how you feel. An English gentleman from Manchester, surrounded by 4 great teams (city, utd, Liverpool and Everton) made to take of an insignificant Scottish team top is disgusting. For those reading this review, we had a lovely meal and drinks else where spending £100 quid. There loss is another restaurants gain!

Wouldn’t rush back. Very slow service. Waitress sat us right next to the door in the bar area when there was many empty tables in the restaurant- we had booked our reservation a week in advance so weren’t too happy with this as it created a draft with the door opening and closing. No check back on how our food was or if we even needed another drink which meant we had no drink for our starter. Once we managed to get the waitresses attention for a drink, we were almost finished our main so no drink for starter or main. Drink finally came and we had finished our meal. Fish was ok, not worth £15 especially when you get around 8 chips and my partner had lots of bones in theirs. The waitress spent most of the time on her phone and chatting to another waitress. Probably the reason for slow drinks, no side plates, no sauces, no check in. Definitely not worth £80 with the service we received.

Good pub food for reasonable price for my family of four. Service was very pleasant. I stayed for tasty dessert of sticky toffee pudding after fish and chips. Would definitely go back.

Disgusting service and arrogant, rude turkey teeth manager (owner)only interested in acting the big I am with staff. Appalling behaviour towards a family or any customer. Avoid, much better establishments around the town.

We happened across the waterside by accident. Looking at the reviews we were a bit unsure. Though the stomach always wins in this argument. When we entered the bar we were welcomed straight away. The service was 2nd to none and the food was good although the lack of steak pie is always a downer. The fish and chips is a huge side of haddock with hand cut chips. The mac and cheese is mac and cheese. And the bill didn't break the bank. We will be back the next time we are in the area.

The wife and I took a friend out for Sunday dinner (early 6:30) to celebrate her retirement. We had been before & had steak pie which was delicious, so we were looking forward to having it again. The menu had changed and no steak pie .. these things happen. When we sat down and ordered drinks only to be told that the Sunday roast had finished as had the turkey roast. That was a real pain in the bum as what was left wasn’t too appealing. I opted for the fish & chips (which turned out to be very bland) only to be told that there wasn’t any hand cut chips left ( you have got to be kidding me) I had to have skinny fries (some of which were green).I should have stuck to my instincts & left after we were told that the 2 Sunday roast had finished @ 6:30 on a Sunday , it was £100 not well spent .Will we be back ? Probably not.

Simple menu limited options but covers all different options .... Sticky toffee pudding to finish off with was delicious, not too sweet but soft and light

Been in a few times and think the vegan and veggie options could be more inspired. On the other hand, the cocktails are lush and the patio has good vibes on a sunny day.

Food was OK. As expected for "pub grub" drinks menu said fresh lime and I got a dehydrated piece of potpourri?! I did ask for a pices of fresh lime and the bit that came looked as if it had already been used... dissapointed....

Good value fish and chips very fresh and good portion size. Sat outside with a nice view over the green and stream very relaxing.
