Not sure why this is still live on TA...nothing else is and the whole place has that desolate abandoned air & appearance. Great shame.

Do not stay here if you plan on staying more than one night or want a relaxing break. The bad - rooms are dirty, the walls are marked and have plaster cracking/falling off, the bedsheets were stained, no headboard just pillows up against a wall, spiders and webs everywhere so clearly hadn't been cleaned thoroughly, and the noise from the room above us was SO loud. We woke up with every alarm, every conversation and every movement they made. Check-in and check-out was odd, no reception of any kind. The good - rooms are spacious, kettle provided, the lodge provides a place to sleep if you find yourself in the area for one night. This is not a 3* place to stay. At most it is 2*.

7 of us stayed 4 nights for a walking holiday in the area. Stuart made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Plenty of hot water for baths and showers when we all arrived back at the same time. Wifi was only available in the dining room and TV reception was intermittant in some rooms. The breakfasts and evening meals were delicious and plenty of food and choice. We also ordered our sandwiches from the hotel. Lovely bread, both brown and white, with plentiful fillings. A successful trip which we hope to repeat.

We had stayed here 2years ago and it was a pleasant stay. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and a few drinks and the breakfast the next day was very good. However, this time it was quite different, we received an e mail the day before travelling which stated that the restaurant and bar where closed for renovation , had we been told this earlier in the booking we would have gone elsewhere , ( the renovations had been going on for some time as stated by the lady who greeted us upon arrival) , the room was good and clean and comfortable , the breakfast however was not good, the eggs where greasy and very overcooked as where the sausages etc... poor ! We won’t be staying again , and felt our booking had been accepted under false pretences due to us not being informed that the bar and restaurant where closed. VERY Disappointed.

Spent two nights in the hotel. Good sized rooms, well furnished. At a good price. It has everything you expect from a basic hotel.Owners were very friendly and helpful, which always makes a big difference. The bar is under going renovation, so soon that will be very nice I'm sure.

Stayed here for 2 nights this week, and found the accommodation to be basic but satisfactory. The owner clearly tries hard to ensure all the essentials are in place. He is very pleasant , polite , courteous and attentive , and made us feel very welcome . The breakfast was excellent .There is ample free parking which is a big bonus , especially if you have a large vehicle or trailer.

We were well looked after by Stu and he went above and beyond to assist with any requests. Rooms were clean and perfectly suited to our needs for the price. Nothing but compliments from a group of 8 happy travellers.
