We had recently been to a great Indian near London that would be hard to beat. Simla in Oswestry was up to the mark and excellent. Great curries with large portions. A bit on the low side on heat, but that seems to be the case the further away you get from London. As a local Indian restaurant I would say that you couldn’t do better. I wish they had a sister restaurant in Vancouver where I live!

We visited as a party of ten for a birthday. The restaurant was packed which is always a good sign. The staff were very friendly and took our order for drinks and food. The drinks promptly arrived followed by the starters. All the food was piping hot and delicious. The mains were very tasty and everyone on our table enjoyed. Two of our party were vegan and they had a wide choice of food and enjoyed what they picked. We will definitely return. Amazing food, friendly cheerful staff and a very fair price

One of the best Indian restaurants we’ve been to. Excellent food, made spicy as requested, and with good service even on a very busy Saturday night.

Looking for an Indian Restaurant in Oswestry, we spotted Simla and were really pleased we had. From the moment we arrived at the door we were greeted as friends would be and throughout the evening everyone we interacted with was really friendly and efficient. Our meals were delicious, promptly served and very reasonably priced. Part way through the evening we found ourselves speaking to George, the owner, who could not have been a more attentive and charming host. This was our first visit to Simla, and to Oswestry, and it certainly won't be our last. George and his colleagues are amazing ambassadors for the town. Thank you to everyone for a really enjoyable, and delicious, experience.

Favourite place for a curry, staff are polite, friendly and very welcoming. Plenty of choice on the menu and the portions are a decent size, naan breads are fresh and tasty, its no wonder the place has been going 47 years it's spot on, would highly recommend!

Stayed over in Oswestry with the intention of visiting here for what appears to be a very good Indian. Arrived at 10pm, 3 people were just leaving. We were told takeaway only. The advertised closing time is 11pm. If you can’t be bothered to stick to your advertised opening times then why not adjust them, to avoid future disappointments?

I've never been to Oswestry before and chose Simla for dinner. We did't book and arrived about 7.15 and found the restaurant nearly empty so didn't understand why they seemed to have difficulty in finding us a table but by 7.30 it was completely full. The food was excellent and the prices reasonable and obviously very popular with regular diners as the patron seemed to know most by name. If we ever return to Oswestry we'll remember to book first.

Prawn korma that tasted like sticky toffee pudding! No cardamons, no almonds, no spices,Into the bin after a few sickly mouthfulls! What a waste of 50 quid!!!

Hadn't been for years and I'm regretting having missed out now! I'd forgotten how consistently good it is, both in terms of the food and the service. Best curry I've had in ages (chicken tikka moglai), the naan bread was do good that I managed a whole one to myself which is utterly unheard of. Will be back shortly!

Good serviceGood foodGood pricesI really enjoyed dinner here and will be visiting again.Word to the wise .....don't show off by taking a big spoonful of the lime pickle. Lovely flavour with a lethal after burn of hot spices ???

The poppadoms were ok with plenty of dips, the mixed tandoori grill starters were ok. The main courses were average at best and my wife's meal tasted burnt. Less than impressed by the waiter scratching something off the plate before putting it in front of me.
