I spent some time searching for a dog friendly pub and stumbled across this pub about 20 minutes drive from where we are currently staying. I can honestly say, it was more than worth the drive! The food was absolutely delicious, service attentive and welcoming and they even had a water bowel and treat at the table for our dog. Certainly an amazing little find and can’t wait to return again in the future!

We arrived to a pre-booked table. Greeted warmly by staff and seated. Drinks were ordered and arrived promptly. The majority of diners were ending their meal and the kitchen was definitely quiet. We ordered our food - main course only - nothing elaborate or too tricky to prepare/cook. We waited just under an hour for our food and it was most disappointing. Definitely not worth the wait. Staff were pleasant but no one came to explain the delay and by the time we were eating we were one of two parties left in the pub. Definitely will not return. There’s better available locally.

Lovely environment. Great menu. Fantastic quality well cooked food. As a party with 2 meat eaters and 3 pescatarians one of which required gluten free and egg free options due to intolerance. Not only were all dietry requirements met, they were exceded! (there was even a vegan gluten free dessert option!). To top it off all of the staff were friendly and polite, providing impeccable service. ☆☆☆☆☆

Apart from the superb food and service, I have to especially commend the manager on his detailed attention and care regarding my allergy and intolerance. He went through every item of the menu line by line to give me the most detailed information, enabling me to make an informed choice. If only every restaurant showed the same care then eating out would be much less stressful! We will definitely be back.

Well kept beer, friendly helpful staff and an interesting menu. The pub itself has different areas decorated to attract most people. The food is well cooked but if there is anything I could change, the portions are a bit small. As often in the area it is dog friendly and has a large car park.

Absolutely fabulous. We've never been before, but will most certainly be back soon.. Lovely staff, certainly the lady who served us. What a lovely person. All staff had a lovely attitude and smiling.Great afternoon. Thank you to all. See you soon. Dawn and John Miller. Grindley Brook ?... Food was exemplary. Ox cheeks WOW and not something I would have ever chosen. So glad I did

Absolutely fantastic night at the Combermere Arms celebrating our engagement, staff were so friendly and accommodating, nothing was ever too much trouble. My fiancé is coeliac and the choice was second to none. Food was hot and so tasty, and I felt like I was robbing them when i got the bill for the experience we had had! The team should be proud and keep doing what you do as it was fantastic!Dietary restrictions: An amazing choice of gluten free options that should put any restaurant to shame!!

In the area viewing houses, I have noticed that on passing on the odd occasion, the car park appears to be busy, so stopped for lunch, staff very welcoming, noticed a good selection of cask ales and tradional ciders at the bar, we were quickly seated and order taken, been longing for a good tadional pie, well wasn't disappointed here 10 out of 10, which I would say for the whole of the meal, certainly call back again

Had a birthday lunch for my wife's birthday recently. The food, as ever, was excellent. Great selection of real ales here too. The staff are friendly and helpful .

I’ve been going to this pub for around 13 years, over that time the service has worsened, it can take 40 minutes wait to order food then the same waiting to get food. Normally after the wait, the food is good. We went in the last week and the food arriving was average at best. A couple of us had battered fish, which appeared to have been battered to make the fish look bigger than it was, it was over cooked and tasteless. Very disappointing to see what was a good pub becoming a less than average place to go.Dietary restrictions: They cannot cater for allergies.I went a couple of years ago and was referred to as “the allergy” and was blamed for all of the food taking so long to come out. (It always is slow service). When I went this Sunday I was asked at the bar for allergies when we first went in, I told them I’m allergic to onions and citrus fruit. When I came to order I was hoping to have a roast dinner but was refused as the chef had stated all of the veg would be seasoned with onion! I was only allowed to have fish and chips, which was tasteless and overcooked. When I came to order desert I was refused all deserts bar one as the chef “wasn’t comfortable serving me”. This was even after I had confirmed I was ok with citric acid which I have near daily at home. The worst experience I’ve ever had anywhere for dealing with allergies.Totally ruined by birthday meal out, £250 down and less than average food for those that were allowed to eat.

Excellent food, prompt service with a smile and a good atmosphere. We went to celebrate my husband’s birthday and we all had three courses which were all very good. I had the crispy teryaki prawns which were delicious followed by the confit pork belly and finally the caramelised banana waffle. All very tasty and well presented. My son has chicken kiev which looked a bit small and did not include chips or potatoes so he added those extra. I think they could have been included for the price but it was still delicious. My husband had the crispy beef salad which was superb and finished with dark chocolate fondant complete with birthday candle! All in all we had a great meal and ate far too much!

Drinks and building lovely. We were really looking forward to our anniversary meal, however, the food was very average and table service was less than keen.

We have been coming here for the last 25 years and have loved the warm friendly atmosphere . However we have not been for 12 months and it has dramatically changed for the worse . Service was very poor . I had lamb rump at £29.95 it was awful , tough and over cooked , sauce was greasy and veg the same ……sauce overpowered whole dish …just nasty .I think it was a boil in the bag job.My partner had pork chop with colcannon mash green beans and mustard sauce . The mash was plain not colcannon, there was no mustard sauce and there were 3 green beans. It was clear from our reactions we were not happy but the manager just turned and left the table. So very disappointed we will not be going back. To add insult to injury my lamb dish is £6 cheaper on another nearby brunning and price ……where we are still welcomed and will happily still go !

We were given a very warm friendly and courteous welcome on aur arrival, once seated immediately offered Menu and drink requirements by our very attentive waitress ( Sue ). We had Chicken / Leek & Ham Pie also Gammon Steak, both meals were EXCELLENT excepting Veggies being too al denta, seems this is not just a Comermere Arms way of serving. Not withstanding this very minor Veggie issue our main food content simply very very enjoyable. Thanks Sue. We can highly recommend
