I had a very nice flat white and cheese scone but there were very few ‘light’ options on the menu with most around £15

A very disappointing experience. Arrived for a coffee and cake. Could not order at the counter, I was told it was table service. Then waited 10 minutes before going back to counter to place order, then waited 15 for coffee to arrive. I asked for sugar and was told it would be brought out to me - it never arrived.Coffee and cake OK but nothing special.

My family and I love this venue. In fact, I have coffee here almost every day. When I can, I bring my kids and grandkids because it's such a relaxing place where the staff treat us so well. The breakfasts are delicious, as are the cakes and scones. Lunches, too, are well worth a visit and the staff are so considerate. If you need to break your journey to the West Country, do it here. You won't be disappointed.Kid-friendliness: Family friendly

Lovely place 2 minutes from the mayhem of the A303 services at Ilminster.Get away from the Costa and Burger King and go here instead.Fabulous breakfasts and proper coffee with table service.Dog friendly.

Beautiful location with fantastic food. The portions are big and the staff are really friendly, making sure you have everything you need. Highly recommend their brunch or lunch menu.

Operates such limited days/hours its hard to judge the food as it always seems to be closed. Lovely place but all the businesses here are losing out by not opening all day on the whole weekend. Its very short sighted.Parking: Generally empty as its generally closed.

Disappointing to find that at 2pm there was no lunch, but we ordered a Coke, coffee and a slice of cake to share. It came out at over £10! We were not informed either that they added on a service charge. We didn’t get any service! I had to go up to pay and I could hear the staff talking about their personal lives rather than serving customers. We won’t return.

This exceptional cafe is made so special by the front of house staff, so welcoming and friendly. The setting is stunning and we always have such yummy homemade food. My little 2 yr old boy is made to feel like a superstar. Such a gem of a place.

It's a beautiful place, tidy and very pretty. We ate in the cafe & terrace. The setting is really lovely. There is a long table through the cafe which had all the cakes, tarts, salads laid out on, nothing was covered and flies were crawling over everything. I was hoping to have a tart with salad but after seeing this we chose to have whatever was coming fresh from the kitchen. Made us feel quite sick. I don't understand why anywhere would leave food sitting out so openly with no covering. Quite disgusting, and a real shame when the rest is so lovely!

Disappointed in many ways. A very limited lunch menu and especially for vegetarians (and pretty expensive too). The main filling was missing from both our sandwiches the first time around and before ordering I was surprised when I asked what the pie came with to hear that it came with nothing. We had to wait a long time for our orders, but the waitress was very friendly and helpful. 10-12 years ago, this was a fantastic place…

Delicious breakfast enjoyed by us all. Ingredients are of the highest quality, service was equally good. On the top end price wise however if this standard of food and service is maintained I have no complaint.

Stopped en route Cheltenham to Lyme Regis . Strange coffee.. Green smoothie great. Poached egg and 'broccomole' pleasant and pesto fab.Hubbie did not fare so well. It was hot and not much more. Ordered a kedgeree........definitely not a kedgeree...Haddock non existent. Not one piece. No seasoning. Rice absolutely destroyed. Poached egg was cooked. On the plus side we politely told waitress who handled it superbly. The staff were amazing. A fabulous bacon roll followed.PS tried to call in again today on way home.....14,03h. Lunch finished?? Luckily Monks was as busy as ever and happy to serve

Very terrible service, waited ages for our food to arrive to table, missed one of our dish , we had to Wait another half an hour for that, everyones food was cold by then, just because the chief didn’t read our order correctly, and the breakfast was overcooked and burnt .
