Our recent visit to Butlins Minehead was amazing. The ABBA show is a must for anyone that even just slightly likes that sort of music as it was brilliant. We also saw the Masked Singer, Festivals Rock, Billy & Bonnie Once Upon A Time and others, which along with the pool and other activities led this to being a fun filled few days. The staff were all pleasant, professional, full of smiles and really helpful. The accommodation left a little to be desired, however the rest of the experience more than made up for it.

Had a great time. Booked the standard accommodation for 3 nights. Room was basic, as expected. But clean, and suited its purpose. The shows were brilliant, and an added bonus, you can take your own food and drink into the shows. I can’t comment on the dining plans or the pub food inside Butlins. The fish and chip shop inside the complex were fine and reasonably priced. We ate are main meals at pubs outside of Butlins. All in all, a fab time. You can make it expensive or inexpensive. But you’ll have a fab time regardless.

Me, my partner and toddler visited Butlin’s last year in September and when we arrived to our apartment it was filthy. There were stains on the sofa, mould in the fridge and on top of the fridge there was mouldy milk. The most disgusting thing we found was mouse droppings behind the fridge (see in photos). We rang the services and they sent someone out to clean the mould and faeces. I explained to the cleaner that I did not feel comfortable staying in the apartment after finding droppings especially with a toddler running around. We were told to wait for management to come out, they asked if they could see the dirt and mouse droppings. They said they would move us to a different apartment which took an hour.

Two of the quilts had old dry blood stains on them and the was blood stain on the sofa. I reported this and the sofa was scrubed and quilts changed but then had to report again for the stained quilts to be collected as they left them in the bedroom!

Good overall experience. Entertainment was very good. Something for everyone. Very family orientated as expected. Opted for premium dining and silver accommodation both satisfactory. Staff very helpful. A lot of talent on display. Would recommend for a no frills break

Background: we have been to butlins bognor regis for the last few years (mid week in August) and loved it. We wanted a 7 day holiday this year and decided to try a different Butlins which is a bit further away. The review is based on some expectations we had and some comparisons to Bognor. Accommodation: dirty and not up to standard. We have a silver suite for 2 adults and 2 kids (5 and 8). On arrival, bedding was very worn with holes, the ones in the twin room had a yellowish colour to them. Two sofas in the front room are very dirty. Radiators are very dirty, half of the cups and glasses are not cleaned. Some teabags, teaspoons were dirty. (See pictures for some examples). Some of the windows don’t open etc. We called customer care and they sent someone out to clean the sofas and changed the bedding for the double bed but not the twin beds, radiators not cleaned. We couldn’t use the sofas for the first couple of days due to them being wet after being cleaned. Hubby took the kids to bed in the twin bed room on the first night and was locked in for good 10-15 mins as the door was nearly impossible to open! We finally managed to open it but were very worried the kids would close it by accident and lock themselves in. We called customer care in the morning and they sent someone to fix it. Afterwords the door can be opened but won’t close properly as they only reversed the latch which meant the door opened with just a slight breeze. Food: we got the food court dining, food for the first 2 days was okay. On the 3rd day breakfast, there was no scrambled eggs (which the kids love) and no lettuce on the salad bar for dinner. On the 4th day still no scrambled eggs in the morning so asked the people at the food court and was told they are waiting for a delivery. We called customer care and we’re told there is nothing they can do, we need to talk to the people at the food court! The lettuce reappeared after 2 days and the scrambled eggs finally reappeared on our 7th day. Staff: most of them didn’t make us feel welcomed and not as friendly as our experience with Butlins before. However the person checking us in at the food court Monday to Friday day was amazing! They need more staff like him! Swimming pool: we had a great time at the swimming pool, no issues at all. Shows and circus: good but long queues so get there early! Whole site: dated, over crowded and dirty. Whole experience: disappointed.

I took my 6 year old daughter for a daddy daughter weekend away at Butlin’s Minehead and we weren’t disappointed. We stayed Friday to Monday in a very basic accommodation but it was very clean and comfortable . The entertainment was brilliant, Animals vs Dinosaurs, The Masked singer, Goldilocks pantomime to name but a few. You must book these through the app as the shows can get very busy and also download the table service app as it can save a lot of problems especially being a single parent there . Fairground is a little tired but still good fun, swimming pool was extremely busy and a little overcrowded, should scrap the session times and just stay open to stop the crowds. Food is great lots of options dinning plan can save a fortune along with 1st child eats for £1. Will definitely be going back next year

Plantation Quay's exteriors look shabby and run down. Some of the interior have been refurbished but now no dishwasher and less worktop and cupboards. So not ideal. But the shows and entertainment are excellent and the staff are helpful and friendly. There were items missing but customer service extremely helpful and this was dealt with quickly.

Minehead Butlins was incredibly clean well maintained loved all the flowers ( so colourful ) . The new mattress were so comfy. Staff were very friendly and the life guards excellent at there jobs. Masked singer amazing. The only downfall we had was been turned away at 11:45 because you weren't allowed to enter before 12 which in the 10 years we have been has never been an issue in fact a member of staff said a few years ago we would never turn you away as you have paid for this holiday and your holiday starts now.

It's okay. There was quite a long queue to get into the buffet but that was to be expected. There were plenty of food options to choose from. I chose lasagna, veg and chips. The lasagna and chips were nice but the veg was quite hard and undercooked. There were quite a few deserts to have after woods. The custard on offer tasted very strange (as if it were dairy free!) but the cream was excellent. The crumble was okay but it didn't have much flavour to it. Overall, I had a good experience here. Will go back if it's my only option again.

Just got back from 90s weekend. We went for my best friend's 50th. When we arrived, it was absolute chaos. Took 15 mins to get in through gate, cars, people and suitcases everywhere. My daughter had to park in the furthest car park away from room as no parking anywhere. The room was clean and tidy, but, don't be fooled by their own sites pictures, most of it does not look like that. If you take the platinum package, you get a beautiful new room. (Not many of those). We were in what can only be described as army barracks. Very old buildings, in a row. Six of us went, we had two rooms next to each other. Opposite and below us in every room, was a stag party, consisting of roughly 20 men. We were the only women. Music, Karaoke, football all day, from stag party. And when I say all day, it was all night too. They continuously blasted an air horn, and if not that, they kept setting the fire alarm. No security whatsoever. For the three nights we were there, none of us slept. Security were informed of what was going on and did nothing. Another lady complained to the lads themselves, all they did was laugh at her, and turned music up!!! That was 3.30am. We had paid for the food package. Food was gorgeous and great choice, but the staff were foreign and very rude. My friend sat at a table that had just been cleaned, and the waitress had a go for sitting there. As we arrived at the table, the lady was threatening my friend. Waitress walked away, my friend was very upset. Then waitress came back half way through eating and told my friend she was vile!!! Then waitress told the other staff about it and all of them were staring at us. Very very intimidating. Entertainment was great, although most acts were on late at night. Doorstaff were great too. Very friendly and chatty. But not so much for the rest of the staff. Not many smiling or happy. Most were abrupt and just wanted you out of the way. Everywhere was tired looking. And dirty. Basically, it was a free for all. Drugs, sex and rock and roll. Staff not interested. Leave everyone to it. But we made it a great weekend. And we would go again, but not Opposite a STAG party. Well fed, great time, but not slept for three days and had a four hour drive home.

First time at Butlins with my wife and our 20 month old as well as some friends and their young children. On first impression, on arrival it was chaos with a car park that was 90% full, and people everywhere scrambling for trolleys to unload cars. There was no clear direction and everyone was disorganised. I found a trolley and made our way to the accommodation. It was generally very grotty and dirty and clearly needed some attention. Paint was peeling, there was mould in the bedroom and bathroom and the carpets were stained. The fridge didn't work properly and had defrosted on the floor. Not a good start. However, when we contacted guest services, they came with a brand new fridge that was quickly installed. I went to the shops and got some cleaning products and gave everything a wipe over and all was well. Generally, the resort facilities are a bit tired but staff are friendly and approachable. The shows and activities that we did do were great and mostly included in the price. The restaurants were a bit of a letdown. Although they were priced reasonably, the food was generally sub par. As we had a kitchen in the accommodation, we ate in a few times instead. Most importantly, both the kids loved it and didn't want to leave. I think Butlins is a bit of a shame as it needs a lot of refurbishment and money spending, especially on the older chalets which are severely neglected. However their focus seems to be on opening new chalets and accommodation instead of fixing the older ones. It must be hard for the staff too who have to field these sort of complaints as they presumably know nothing will be done to address things. Similarly, the filthy apartments are presumably partly due to the quick turnaround required on cleaning staff but that's just a guess. Overall, and perhaps surprisingly, I would go again. I know what to expect now, it was priced accordingly and people generally enjoyed it. Next time I'll bring cleaning products and fresh bedding too though!

Avoid at all costs with young children! Not enough parking spaces so is chaos and the spaces are tiny - man in the booth at drive thru check in said ‘oh you’re best parking at the far end on the right’ when there were only 2 spaces left in the whole car park right at the entrance and a massive queue of cars still waiting to get in. Apartment was ages away from car park, trolleys are a free for all and are left outside people’s accommodation and not returned by anyone so no trolleys there, had to try and get our 1 year old to our far away accommodation in the pouring rain. It was a 2 bed comfort apartment, hallway stunk of weed but thank god the room didn’t. Staff in carts don’t even look you in the eye when you are struggling to carry everything. Apartments not baby friendly AT ALL even though it apparently was a tots break, low down tvs - no radiator covers, heavy loud doors, putting someone with a 1 year old up a flight of stairs was really not ideal so one parent had to wait outside in the rain with him while the other took everything to the room as he obviously can’t be left in apartment alone and our stuff can’t be left outside unattended. We did the premium dining, not worth it. We ate at the deck for 1 evening meal and a breakfast before we left - butlins needs to make it clear food is repeated in certain areas to avoid massive queues. Breakfast needs time slots everyone seems to go at same time so carnage. Only 2 people sitting on 6 person tables for example, someone needs to sit them down like a front of house style thing as you get in a restaurant. High chairs with trays should be available, there are high chairs but they don’t come with trays. All slots for messy play and play dough were fully booked within 10 mins of me receiving the “your booking window is open” email and most other activities not okay for a 1 year old so don’t get too excited about the extra tots things they offer as the slots are gone so fast! Total waste of time and money

I grew up going to Butlin’s every couple of years, but I’m not going to lie, after reading the recent reviews I was feeling very apprehensive about going with my two baby boys. However, I really didn’t need to worry, we had the most amazing time for our first holiday as a family of 4. We stayed in a comfort apartment that had recently been refurbed. Check-in time was 4pm and it was ready at 4pm (they were still cleaning 15 minutes before but it was ready on time). It was spotlessly clean. There was nothing left in the cupboards or underneath beds etc. Bathroom was very clean. We were very impressed and my 2 year old was fine with everything. We opted for the premium dining and I’m so god we did. The food was lovely every day. There was always something to suit everyone’s tastes. The drinks were ok, only fruit juices and tea/coffee machine but you could pay for anything else at the bar. There was always plenty of space, we only had to queue once and it didn’t take very long to get in. We went on a tots week while Justin Fletcher was there. My 2 year old especially liked Justin and Peppa Pig, and enjoyed the soft play and little stars fairground. The only thing with soft play was that adults couldn’t go upstairs so he didn’t stay in there long. He also liked the outside fairground where he could go on a few rides. The 2p machines in the arcade were also a great hit. We didn’t think the prizes for the tickets were very good but they never are! We went to the shows at centre stage every night and saw Jay and Joss, Steve Hewlett, Abba show and Jukebox musicals. Me and my husband really enjoyed them as did our 6 month old dancing away to the music. Considering it was a tots week though, I thought the shows could’ve been aimed more towards tots. My 2 year old wasn’t really engaged with the shows and was playing with his bubble machine rolling about on the floor and asked to go for walks a lot of the time. As adults, we did love the shows though. A lot of people were queuing up over an hour before the shows started, especially Peppa Pig and Justin. We bought the VIP pass which I would highly recommend. We never queued and was able to enter 15 minutes before everyone else so got a decent seat. Definitely was much easier for us having 2 little ones. We had an amazing holiday and will definitely be back!
