Nice set up on restaurant unfortunately service not up to scratch. Had meal of pie and chips but was told vegetables not available only to see a table nearby get some.Pie was average but though hot at the top not sufficiently heated at the bottom.Colleagues meals were also average.

We Called in tonight, 23rd December at around 7.20pm for a meal, to be told we were too late to order so we went to the Castle of Comfort and had a meal and drinks and spent close to a hundred quid, I think you need to reconsider your business and perhaps not be in hospitality .

Firstly i really don't like to give negative reviews.. but sometimes it has to be done... I've lived in the area several years and generally always heard good things, so finally me and the staff team i was with booked a table for our staff Christmas party only 6 of us - when i arrived the welcome was lacking and quite dull, as i was early i explained we had a table booked at 6.30 they asked if we'd pre booked the Christmas menu to which i said no - they said it'll be normal menu only then as you have to pre book, this information wasn't given at time of booking ( that you had to specifically ask for the Christmas menu ) anyway i arrived at 5.30 and used the toilets which smelt and had water/urine on the floors several staff including the chef used the facilities while i was there so surely someone should have had sense to clean them.. we was seated at 6.50, the service was very slow and at times i think we were forgotten, our meals finally arrived, one of the chicken burgers was missing relish and half a pot of coleslaw the vegie burger wasn't a vegie burger ? but luckily we noticed before the vegetarian ate, and then when we asked for sauces we had to wait quite a few minutes to receive them, it felt like there was no one in chrge of the team it really felt disorganised borderline rude but not quite, when we received our vegie burger the reason was given that tye wifi is terrible so order's are hand written ?The food itself was just ok.... i had the burger and for the price I'd expect much better all round to be honest, much better i had the STP for desert which was good, unsure if it was bought in or not but it was good - the only good'ish waiter was the tall guy who when he brought us the bill said he'd removed the service charge as we'd been the table that had to wait so much and he apologised - while he asked us for the £153 another customer came up to the waiter and said how unhappy he was as they'd been missing a meal and the steaks where not cooked well all in all not a good experience at all and I'd definitely not go back... the thing is with good customer service and good waiter's this needn't had happened, as i saythe food was ok so you could skip past all the other nonsense but, when food is just ok and your paying £20 for a burger thenthe service needs to be fantastic to make you feel your actually getting something good for your money ( service )I've worked FOH and also as a cook so i know how hard it can be especially when I see on Facebook they are looking for a chef, but it's still not acceptable...

Was a lovely place to go out for dinner, the food was incredible no fault at all. Large portion sizes and really worth the cost. Quiet for a Thursday evening and able to sit in the corner. Beautiful art pieces available for sale to help support a local artist which is really great to see. Highly recommend!

Had Christmas meal with friends, lovely meal, but no Brussels sprouts?? No crackers on the table either, didn't feel very Christmasy at all. Last year was better. Staff were very helpful even though we asked for custard with our pudding. Just a shame there was no Xmas feeling put into it at all.

We were so looking forward to having a great meal here. Lots of vegan options. We booked weeks in advance, as we have autistic kids and were going to see the Christmas lights in Stourhead. It was so special, we had only booked 1 event this year as getting out is so tricky. With 3 hours to go the Mendip inn called to say they had no vegan food available. None. Even though we had put this in the booking weeks earlier. This, on a Sunday, only weeks before Christmas. Absolutely no chance of rebooking for lunch anywhere else.My advice, don't hang your plans on this place, they'll let you down.

Beautiful pub, gorgeous food and staff friendly and welcoming. Even went above and beyond to serve food early which we were super grateful for. We will definitely be returning!Food & drinks: Food was excellent, served quickly and a real bug bear of mine is that most places you go, you get one pot of mayonnaise for two people. We had one each and it saved me having to surrender most of it to my partner! Sauvignon was gorgeous too!

Booked on the day as a stop over before travelling back to Norfolk, and were lucky to get 2 rooms for 4 adults. Rooms are fantastic and the staff were great. Had food in the restaurant which was lovely.

Unfortunately the Sunday menu has shrunk yet again only choice of beef or pork now if wanting a roast lunch,Food arrived in a timely manner but lukewarm.Terrible issue with flies not enjoyable having to keep swatting them away from Food and drinks.Service charge added to bill ...why , it should be customers choice to tip, not to be made to feel uncomfortable if you don't Want to.Tipping used to be because it was poorly paid, minimum wage changed that, I did ask if the servers got the tip and they do and the server said they work hard so deserve it, ummm they are being paid to work hard.Seems to have had a big change of staff, unfortunately put of going again.

Nice room n en suite, ensuite needs abit of attention. There's no wardrobe which is OK, but dreadful wire coat hangers provided. Very disappointed that our room wasn't serviced, we asked for clean cups n for the bin to be emptied but despite being told this would be done it wasn't! Very noisy as we expected, it is a pub but at 2.30am!?

Very almost kept driving by when we arrived as externally, the pub is looking very tired and is in definite need of some TLC. However, the food was nice and the service was great.

Decent food, nothing amazing. Quite pricey, so a little disappointed when it was just ‘normal’ and nothing amazing. Decor was spot on, really modern but still country vibes. Service was OK, no check back during food which would have been good as we ordered the sharing board and half of the stuff on the plate was different to what was on the menu! We didn’t have a clue what it was. Car park is a bit of a nightmare, quite a few massive potholes that would definitely do damage if hit!

I've always driven past The Mendip Inn when coming back from Bristol, and only popped in for the first to have a quick pint after a day of hiking. However, I saw the restaurant, the menu, and immediately knew it was where I wanted to bring my partner for our anniversary. Attended last night and WOW! Fantastic food and really great portion sizes. Plus, for what we actually ate (which would feed a small village), the price was very reasonable. I'd definitely recommend anyone whose every driven past to pop in and give it a try, as you won't be disappointed. Try the sharing board... it is absolutely ridiculous!!
