The Somerset Wagon
Broadway, Chilcompton, RadstockOn the Cask Marque Ale Trail, an assurance that the ale will be in prime condition. (it is worth a visit if only for that) The staff knew little about this, but they know a lot more now.
But, as it happens, the pub has many other aspects in its favour. A well-appointed outdoor seating area to the front of building within a neatly kept floral area becomes a pleasant sun trap for most of the day.
Although not tasted by this reviewer on this visit, the food being presented to others looked very appetising indeed.
For those interested in history, the pub dates back to 1874, a scrolled picture opposite the bar going into more detail.
Amiable serving staff makes the visit a pleasant visit for the passing patron.

Welcomed immediately by friendly and professional staff, who were more than happy to give us their personal recommendations for food and drinks. We were a group of 6 and had a fantastic table to accommodate us. We ordered a range of different cocktails, (espresso martinis and aperol spritz) and all drinks arrived quickly. There are lots of vegetarian options here, and I went for the vegetarian shepherds pie. I can honestly say it was by far one of the best shepherds pies I’ve ever eaten. You couldn’t even tell that it was vegetarian! The rest of our group had the burger, fish and chips and cheesey garlic bread. Tip - the garlic bread is enormous. Easily big enough to share with 4 people!
All food was served quickly and tasted delicious, we could not fault it.
Prices are also very reasonable, exactly what you would expect.
Outside they have a lovely seating area with a fire pit, that the staff are more than happy to set up. You can take dogs here and enjoy a nice drink after your meal by the fire pit.
Overall we had such a lovely experience and will return on our next visit to Wells!

Popped in about 6.30 on a Saturday, there's a nice buzz but not overly full. Staff were friendly too.
I ordered pizza, Wifey had Pasta, plus a beer & a brandy mixer. Food arrived quite promptly, maybe 10 mins.
Pizza was simply superb, thin base, plenty of filling & flavour, bit of spice, perfect for me. Pasta was super tasty, plenty chicken, great sauce & plenty chicken. Decent portion sizes. Two very happy eaters ?

Everything from the curries to the sides were perfect, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. They even helped by recommending a curry (which was delicious). Order food from here, you won't regret it!

The Kings Head
Underhill, Coleford, RadstockWe broke down in Coleford after a swim at Vobster and the landlord allowed us to use the wood and gave us a drink even though they weren’t quite open. This is a fab business with awesome people at the helm. It’s in a beautiful spot and the beer is cheaper than Frome nearby. Glad we found it.

Even if you don’t like chips there will be something here for you. So many vegan options as well so would totally recommend for vegans. Also quick delivery.

Chicken wrap was also very good with the fresh salad and sauce.My cheeseburger had a juicy meat which I liked very much. The staff were very accommodating and also very quick. So I can highly recommend it!

7A Coomb End, RadstockVisiting this area on holiday, found this establishment just passing on the main road into Radstock. Excellent service, friendly staff. We had the cod and chips good size pieces of fish and large portions of chips, absolutely delicious. Would return if in the area again.

We sadly moved away to Shepton so don’t come here anymore but had to stay over in Norton so decided to get a Chinese from Jackie Chan’s, everything was very nice except they’ve changed the wonton recipe and it wasn’t good ? very sad it’s changed as it was my favourite thing to order, the wontons were very dry and fishy tasting, they used to be the best thing on the menu. But never mind, next time I will try their dumplings as they look really good.
