Walked into a lovely well decorated establishment, we were greeted by a friendly waitress. Very excited to order food as we felt this would be top notch as it had classy feel to the place. I ordered scampi chips and mushy peas and my friend sausage mash and runner beans. My friends portion size was generous, boasting of 3 sausages and enough mash for two people and good portion of beans. I was gutted I could of cried, I thought they must have my order wrong ? I was given 7 chips in total a spoonful of mushy peas and a average amount of scampi. I had more tartar sauce than peas. I thought I'd find the friendly waitress and ask if the portion size was right. I'm a private chef myself and I know making mash uses more potatoes than making chips. Another waitress interrupted as I was talking to the original waitress, she said all the chips and peas are weighed per portion, and if I wanted more I'll have to pay for it. I was confronted by 4 waitress staff at this point and I heard them laugh at me as I walked away. I'm a kind person and didn't want to make my friend feel bad as I bought her meal as a birthday treat. But I left feeling very sad. I can see from the photos of the other reviews people are served larger chip portions, I feel I was given a child's portion. I'm glad my friends food was the right portion size and she enjoyed her meal. I won't be coming back.

Roast dinner was awful. Not what was stated on the menu was on the plate. No carrots or parsnips. No apple sauce with the pork. Potatoes dry and hard. Asked the staff for carrots and parsnips but none arrived. Stuffing rock hard. Of the 2 roasts we ordered should of been the same, one had so much more pork than the other both looked as if it had been thrown on the plate. One had a mass of peas and mange tout the other had a teaspoon full. Service was awful from the start, no forks and lack of staff to ask . Overpriced for the quality of the meal. Will not be returning. Decor was good and welcoming. Shame the staff and food wasn't.

Both hubby and I remarked that it’s a shame staff looked untidy (no uniform) and when not serving were on their mobile phonesParking: Spaces in road and car park

Interesting experience, nice and clean, warm reception from the lady behind the bar, Marstons pedigree ale, flat as a --- we booked the reseraunt, but it was full so we put in an annex, the waitress announced their was no table service, it would not be amiss to say we were disappointed, on the whole the food was very good and a pleasure to eat, if the bear has a manager I'm sure he would be disappointed

I stayed here this month for my birthday. I opted for a family room. £326 for four nights. It was great.I checked in online as I was travelling down and was greeted politely and quickly by the staff. I was shown to the building adjacent to the pub which i was staying in by the helpful lady who gave me the keys. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was huge and the water was hot :)Had a few beers that day too in the pub. Great looking place. Would recommend to anyone.Cheers!Parking: Loads of parking round back.Kid-friendliness: Loads of high chairs, good clean environment for the youngsters.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp at the front of the building.

My partner and I both had the special, which was pork belly and it was delicious. It was served with a tasty mash and tenderstem broccoli, would definitely have it again.
