Didn't stay in the rooms though I hear good things. I went in to eat. Lovely atmosphere. Bar staff extreamly friendly. Food is all home cooked and done to order so tastes amazing. It does get busy so booking is essential.

Free onsite parking to start with! (We haven’t stayed here as we’re local to street only come for food)Food here is great, we’ve been a couple of times but the best thing is the carvery. Really happy my mum was able to eat here as she has a dairy allergy and she was more than happy with what was on offer. Girl behind the bar serving us our drinks was really kind also. Also if you aren’t happy calling, they’re more than happy to respond via Facebook and have been very helpful. Support local ❤️

Booked a one night stay on line, asked a couple of questions re meals and parking, no reply. Arrived Sunday afternoon, staff all clearing up after a busy lunchtime service. Shown our room, across back carpark on the first floor. (we were the only people booked in) Only one cup in room, and that was dirty. Stained bed linen and hairs in bed and on bathroom floor. We were offered the other room across the landing, no cups in this one so we brought the clean two we had recently got from the first room. Offered a complementary drink which we accepted and booked breakfast for 9am the next day. Walking back to room at night, lighting left a lot to be desired. Breakfast, what a laugh, we think the only part that was cooked fresh was the fried egg, everything else seemed to have been heated in the micro. Coffee, no spoon, no sugar. Toast that had only had a fleeting meeting with toaster and on the same plate as the puddle of warm baked beans butter for the toast obviously from larger container and dolloped in a small bowl. Back to room pack and checkout, made a coffee, stirring it with my toothbrush handle as now noticed we had no spoons. Walked over to the main building to check out only to find doors locked and all lights off, left keys in room and departed. Last point, both my wife and I have both had dodgy stomachs since the 'breakfast'

Nice meal, ribs were substantial with quality salad and chips. Helpful staff and a car park, so good to visit in the pouring rain.

Chose to go here for a meal for me and my twins 50th,really disappointed as I preorderd my menu got there for 6 no one in pub apart from us,my food for our table didn't come out until 7.15 totally ridiculous as we preorderd, then one order was forgot ,then two of our deserts were awful the icecream was all sloppy and just chucked together, then 3 of my group were sick overnight,it ruined our night really and was so disappointed would never go there again, they didn't have enough staff on and it was only table of 12.

Had lunch today with my partner and my mother and had a superb lunch I had fishcakes with smoked haddock and mozzarella, my mum had scampi and my partner had fajitas all were fantastic. Staff polite, smart and efficient and the place spotlessly clean and welcoming. Will definitely call again. Well done ?

First time here ... one night stay with our dogs. Room v. clean & has small fridge which was a plus. The staff were great fantastic service with a smile both last night in the bar and when having breakfast this morning. The food was excellent last night and this morning ... I'd keep hold of the Chef no way would I let her/ him leave. Lovely green open space 200 yards away for the dogs. Couldn't be happier and would recommend.

Well the room smelt fousty, plus we were meant to be on ground floor and we were put upstairs, we went for a meal ,half the stuff wasn't on the menu ,then we were told breakfast time for the morning, when got down in the morning everything was closed ,and other couples had tried to get in and ring the number stated ,no answer on numerous times.Absolutely shambles

Visited for a family meal early on a Saturday evening. Ellie at front of house was very welcoming and ensured all was good during our first time at The King Alfred. Plenty of choice of food on the menu. It came quickly, was well-presented and the portions were generous. We had a very positive first experience. With so many neighbourhood pubs disappearing, hopefully locals (and visitors) will help this one continue to thrive. We will be back.
