Wasn't too bad, Very busy. Can be cold if near the door due to all the visitors coming in and out. But overall good. Staff very helpful. They do their best for u . Good prices food very enjoyable. Great views in the bishops

Avoid the Bishops Table cafe within the grounds of Bishops Palace. My daughter did a week's trial for them and was promised payment. She was given no feedback or guidance. No reason or contact from them.Despite lots of emails and chasing and promises this company HAS NOT PAID HER FOR 36 hours work.Cowboy attitudes and treating young people unfairly. Expecting free labour.I can't believe this sort of thing is happening amongst the lovely grounds of the Palace.HR AND MANAGEMENT of Bishops table WERE CONTACTED BUT STILL NO PAYMENT. Despite promisesAbsolutely Shocking behaviour!!!!!!Whoever runs this cafe needs dismissing.Do I really have to go to Citizens Advice about you totally unacceptable. It has been over a month now.

Unfortunately I have to amend my experience from lovely to now rather disappointing. The menu update is a bad move in my opinion.Ordered food from the childrens menu for my daughters, a bit fussy for younger eaters, pepper on the eggs and sour dough toast with no butter, a bit too crunchy and hard. All day breakfast, boxed up pre made sandwiches, very expensive cake. What happened to the locally sourced pasties, menu with vegetables in season and great selection of Gluten Free options? Now just a big overpriced fry up.I don't think the new chef/manager is targeting the Bishop's Palace visitors, menu more suited for the high street/pub.Most of the customers I saw on my last few visits looked disgruntled with the changes and all mostly sat with cake and a drink. Food all a bit heavy and greasy, overpriced, not the lovely homemade food we have enjoyed over the last 8 years.I wouldn't recommend any dishes on the menu. Probably just stop here for a cuppa and that's it.Sorry.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free menu is disappointing, used to be guaranteed a few options here on our visit, but new menu doesn't seem to cater much at all. Shame as a family we love The Bishop's Palace and always stopped in the Bishop's Table for lunch in our visits.Wheelchair accessibility: Good

Overpriced for what it is. You have to get your own coffee.

Very disappointing. No vegan fare, apart from the Vegan Breakfast, which I didn't really want for lunch. The person I went with is a vegetarian, and was disappointed with the lack of choice, not being an egg eater. We ended up having a cup of tea and a flapjack - not exactly the lunch we'd hoped for.

Stopped for coffee but were tempted by the lunch menu. So glad we were as my friend and I both had amazing meals. Really tasty veggie toastie with chips and salad - all beautifully cooked and presented. My friend enjoyed her quiche and we are only sorry we were too full to sample the lovely looking cakes. We will definitely go back, 10/10, even liked the buzzer system for notifying when orders were ready!

Astonishing good lunch today. Homemade...yes you read the right... homemade beer battered cod and chips with fresh chunky salad, peas and tartar sauce. The place was very busy..on a Tuesday as well !! Easy to see why, Andrew and his awesome new kitchen team are simply smashing it. Lovely highly professional young front of house team too. Great to hear a return to table service is also planned very soon. So heartwarming to see this wonderful cafe picked up from the doldrums of a few months ago.

ordered a Chai Latte, a carrot cake, and a cookie: everything was good and tasty. The waitresses were nice, and the service was quite fast. I loved the table next to the window, offering a beautiful view of the Palace and the Garden from a cozy warm seat.

Updated August 2023, been a regular here most weekends for the past 5 years. Sadly they have now stopped serving gluten free sandwiches and no longer have much of a gf menu. What was once a well thought out menu for families has become an overpriced greasy spoon style menu. All day breakfast for £14 ? Very poor children's options. A big drop in quality. Shame. As a family we used to love coming here as they catered for all dietary requirements.Dietary restrictions: Poor gluten free options sadly

Me and my friends came for lunch over the weekend on Sunday . I had a quiche with a salad and slaw. The quiche was great. The salad was big and amazing with lots of vegetables. I had a few nice chunky apple pieces in my salad as well. ( Whoever made the salad - awesome job) . Great lunch ! Thank you for the lovely service !

Had a delicious toastie with chips - best chips in town hands down! The girls serving were really friendly and chatty. Wasn’t a fan of the buzzer system, but were told this will soon be stopping and table service coming back. It was lovely to sit outside and watch the croquet players!

I've never before, when ordering a cheese toastie, been asked if I want "a meat cheese toastie or a veg cheese toastie". It turns out the waitress didn't mean some variant of vegan cheese, but simply a cheese toastie with vegetables or what I would have described as a ham & cheese toastie. I ordered the veg version, and it was excellent, though I probably didn't need the chips (also very good) that it came with. We ate outside, watching the croquet match.

My friend and i met up on Sunday in Wells on our annual catch up and decided to have some lunch together. The Bishops Table is a nice cafe. The cafe is making changes with a new menu of homemade food . I had fish and chips for my lunch. The fish was so delicious . The staff were very kind and helpful . The location is excellent because The Bishops Palace is beautiful . My friend had a toastie with plenty of cheese. Her toastie was amazing ! I think I will have a homemade steak pie next time. I am not really a fan of the buzzers and i prefer table service but we can live with that. The homemade salad was lovely with all the fresh vegetables in it. Thank you. This is our go to place for food now ! Looking forward to coming back !

We've been going to the Bishops palace regularly. We'd have lunch and visit the gardens. The food has always been good. But these last two times its been bad and we complained. My soup was luke warm, the bread used to be good but its average. Their sandwiches now are prepacked and dry. I waited ages for my soup. One customer waited 30mins for his toastie, another said that service station sandwiches were better. Lots of tables were left uncleared. They now have self service, but carrying trays is not possible for everyone. And the new lay out makes it feel like a canteen. Its all about making money v quality and customer experience. Wont go back. Such a pity

Not great, visiting the cafe (as a local) was not a good experience, it was never always great, but now, it's much worse. Whoever thought issuing pagers to collect your orders was a good idea, clearly didn't do their market research (having spoken to quite a few locals with similar opinions). I waited just under 15 mins for a coffee. The cafe had more staff behind the counter? yet, they are trying to save money? no logic at all. Sorry, won't be re-visiting, too much choice in Wells to suffer the pain of this cafe.
