Wells cathedral, and the Bishop's Palace, are fantastic visits. Go here for a proper traditional tea room with lots of home made cakes.

We hired the loft for my daughter's christening reception last weekend. I wanted to say a big thank you for helping us to have such a lovely day. The venue is decorated beautifully and there were lovely flowers on every table, the bunting and fairy lights are just lovely too. The food provided was faultless and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our cake supplier let us down last minute so we had no christening cake, the staff at the loft put together a cake for us within an hour, which was so kind of them, they really went above and beyond. I will definitely use the venue again in the future and highly recommend them. Thank you again!

There is nothing good to say here. We went as a preview to the Christmas carol service. The 'chosen' meal was a very small portion of luke warm fish pie served on a cold plate with salad! The fish was not the usual selection for a fish pie, I didn't detect any smoked fish, there was no sauce, it was cheap white cubed frozen fish in a waterly slop. We weren't offered any drink other than water, then found out wine was available if you asked. An appalling experience, possibily the worst food I've ever been served, totally underwhelmed; we will never return.

We had the most delicious carrot and coriander soup here on Sunday. The staff are all very friendly and the tea was really tasty. Our dog loved the home made dog treats We will definitely be back

I felt the cafe was a little cold temperature wise but the staff were lovely and welcoming. On such a dreadful wet day, I ended up staying there for a few hours reading but the staff were so nice. I had the soup followed by a wine and some crisps all very fresh and reasonably priced. Would recommend!

It is inside the cathedral, a convenient choice for an easy lunch. The food options are limited. The environment is good.

The cafe is up some stairs in the Cathedral. There is a lift. We visited at lunchtime. We did not queue for very long. We ordered butternut squash soup, one gluten free roll, one plain. Two coffees. The soup was the only gluten free and vegetarian option apparent to me. So paid for soup. The spoons are next to the till. So paid before I saw the state of the cutlery. Initially I thought it was patina on old cutlery, but if you look closely you could see that every spoon was dirty. The young man got me another spoon off of a trolley behind him, and it was still dirty. The lady then said she would bring me a spoon and to sit down. She brought me a spoon she said she had washed herself, and it still was not very clean. The spoons need a good scrub, the dirt looks dried on over time. I used a teaspoon from my coffee to eat the soup, and I cleaned with my paper napkin. The soup was a bit too salty, and not very tasty. I would have left it, but I needed to eat, and it was expensive to waste. The gluten free roll was warm, and good. The plain roll was cold in the middle. The coffee was mellow and pleasant. The view was good from the windows. It is not somewhere that I would go again. A man who had been next to me in the queue made fun of me for complaining, and I do dislike complaining. But it is important to protect people’s health, cutlery should be clean, it is only fair to give criticism to a business, rather than just walking away, so that they have the opportunity to improve. We are paying to eat, it should be nicer than opening a tin of soup at home, not something that has to be politely endured, for fear of being a ‘complainer’.

Lovely light and airy premises. There is a lift for those less mobile. We enjoyed homemade soup and cheese scones. Loose leaf tea and smoked salmon sandwich. Would have liked to try the homemade cakes but time did not permit this.
