I've been a Cresswell Street resident for just short of a decade. I've seen many people take over The Friery and in my opinion, fail miserably. The new owners are kind, welcoming and bloody brilliant cooks! I popped over last week for some lunch and was asked if I wanted today's special - fish pie and cauliflower cheese. Oh my word it was absolutely out of this world! The Friery is by far the best chip shop in Barnsley and the surrounding area. If you not sure about giving it a try, you must!! You will not be disappointed!!Thank you again for our scrumptious meals ? Please never leave!

Went in this evening for some fish and chips for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Also the lady and gentleman behind the counter were extremely helpful also with a big smile on there faces!!! Keep up the good work guys and we will be back sooner rather then later!

Excellent food and would definitely visit again. We ordered 2 kids cod bites meal deal and adults fish and chips and they were very tasty and freshly made to order. My fussy eater said her cod bites were that tasty she wants to eat them for breakfast, dinner and tea!
Really good, fresh fish and chips. Bit of a wait, but then what do you expect when you get them cooked fresh for you. Wide selection of veggie/vegan options. Nice to find a place where the person actually enjoys their job and makes you feel welcome. Will definitely be returning!
