I ordered the surf and turf and the steak medium. I had to bend the fork back into place 3 times and remove the steak from my mouth, it was by far the worst steak I’ve ever had. Avoid. This was the cut of the meat. The lass behind the bar had enough on clearing 3 tables let alone me moaning. And the other plates were cleared due to me eating it all.

I visited The Ship for food, we ordered the fish 2 for £20. We were over charged when ordering the food and drinks to start with. However they did say they will refund back on to the card, which we are still yet to receive. We had nearly finished our drinks around an hour later and I had to ask how much longer will the food be. The lady then ran into the back and appeared 5 mins later with the food. We could see the chips looked well overdone but thought we will try them and see. All we could taste was a burnt flavour and waited around 10-15 min to find a member of staff to report it to. I asked the lady for replacement chips. She then walked off into the back with one of the plates of food, left the second on the bar. About 10 minutes later the lady reappeared carrying the plate, picked up the plate that had been sat on the bar and slammed the food back on the table. The lady then picked a chip off the plate and squashed it in front of my mothers face, then threw the chip back on the plate of food and said there is nothing wrong with them. That's how we serve them. I said you have touched the food so we couldn't even eat it anyway now. Then the landlord came over picked up a few chips of the other plate tapped them on the table and said there fine and threw it back on the plate. We asked for a refund as this was unacceptable. 2 other customers said they were burnt and got up and left without eating. The lady then proceeded to shout across the bar saying they are not Wetherspoons and that is how they cook their food. The lady continued shouting at us abusively, all we asked was for fresh edible chips. The landlord eventually said he will replace it with fresh chips which he then explained were microwaved and in a disposable packet when presented to us. They explained they pre cook the chips in the fryer then when ordered they microwave them refry them, microwave them and refry again. Which resulted in burned hard greasy chips. I will not recommend this establishment to visit. The most concerning was the lady's attitude and abusive nature to us as paying customers. To feel threatened while explaining our concern is not what you want when going out for a special meal with my mother. I would hope the lady has realised that when customer facing you should not shout abusive comments and touch customers food. This is a disgrace and we are feeling physically shaken by the horrific experience. We have had to throw the food away as it was not edible.

**Review: The Ship Inn Newington**Rating: ⭐⭐⭐Located in the heart of Newington, The Ship Inn offers a traditional Sunday lunch experience that is both satisfying and easy on the pocket. For just £11 per person, guests can indulge in a medium-sized carvery that caters to those longing for a hearty, classic meal. The ambiance of the inn strikes a balance between rustic and cozy, giving diners the feel of a genuine British pub. The warm wood interiors paired with classic pub decor create a welcoming environment, ideal for families and groups of friends looking to catch up over a meal. The carvery itself, while satisfactory, does not particularly stand out. The meats, veggies, and accompaniments are all competently prepared. However, given the modest price point, one should manage their expectations accordingly. It's a decent meal for the price, but gourmet seekers might find it somewhat ordinary.Service at The Ship Inn is adequate. The staff is friendly enough, though there can be moments of delay during peak hours, which is expected in most establishments. In conclusion, The Ship Inn Newington offers a good value Sunday lunch, especially for those on a budget. While it may not be the most remarkable carvery you'll ever have, it's a solid choice for a comforting Sunday roast without breaking the bank.

We had a very warm welcome at The Ship Inn for a midweek lunch. Pleasant staff, good menu with something for everyone including a decent vegetarian offering, very generous portions. We all enjoyed our selections ( particular thumbs up for the twice cooked chips). Staff did not rush us out allowing us time for a relaxing and long overdue catch up with friends.

A fabulous little pub. Lovely owners, friendly staff and customers, the food is excellent and cooked to perfection, good sized portions, lots of choices on the menu.We had the carvery on Sunday (which was outstanding) and liked it so much we went back on Monday for lunch! The chicken, garlic and mushroom melt is beautiful, the liver bacon and onions, my husband said was just like his Nan made. There's a big play area for the children to run around in, bar games and nice sized beer garden, dogs are welcome and there's parking tooWe told other family members how good this pub was and they are going to pay The Ship a visit. We will definitely be back again. So glad we found you!Best pub food and atmosphere for miles!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐5/5P. S. Forgot to add, the halloween game you are doing for the kids is fab and decorations are amazing.. Love them!! ????‍♂️?

The team at The Ship were amazing when we recently held my Grandpa's wake there. The food was delicious (especially the quiche and chicken - I wish my bag was bigger so I could have brought more leftovers home!) and the staff were so welcoming, thoughtful and respectful. They were polite and professional when needed and they went above and beyond to make our day as easy as possible, including going the extra mile to make sure we got to our train home ok. I only wish we could visit more often but unfortunately we might not be around Bawtry as much now, but will definitely pop in if and when we are nearby!

Had Sunday lunch here sept 2023 it's the worst lunch I've ever eaten the vegetables are sat in water for god knows how long no taste what so ever the gravy is just brown water no thickness to it what so ever. Can't even call the roast potatoes roasties more like boiled ,flat soggy cold Yorkshire puddings. While stood there waiting for staff to serve flies landing on the food the food was cold none of us ate much at all. Couldn't wait to get out the placeIf I had gone to the ladies toilets before ordering I would of walked straight back out absolutely disgusting pure filth both toilets were blocked with toilet roll and full of urine needless to say I waited until I got home.the place needs a good clean carpets and decor filthy.NEVER AGAIN
