We booked three night’s accommodation and two family meals arriving 1 December travelling from Cornwall. On the way to the room we where told it was A shared bathroom and shower for the three rooms this came as a total surprise , which obviously showed as the young lady said it is on the booking site. They refunded our money in full with no complaint. I checked the booking page when filling in the booking page there is a section giving the rooms facilities it had no mention of having or not having an on-suite But when you click to confirm you then enter another page which has a title room facilities you click to open and this does mention that it is shared bathroom! I did not click when booking. This is now 8pm and we had to find new accommodation. We did not cancel our two dinner reservations Table for six and next day a table for four. When our table of six met on the 2nd December we where surprised at the normal bar menu as we believed from their webpage it was festive fair when asked they said we have to book festive fair two weeks ahead!!! My booking was at least six weeks ahead but was never told this when booking on the phone (the only way no online booking service) so it turned out to be a pretty bland affair. We left the venue undecided whether to return for our family of four as we where told they don’t offer Sunday lunch. There is no email service to the pub so I hope they read this as we won’t be eating at the George and Dragon on Sunday 3rd. Make your own conclusions to what you think has taken place but we thought things could be so better.

Popped in for quick lunch with family and friends. Let’s get the positives out of the way first: only two of our party wanted a main meal. One chose fish and chips and the other had the gammon. Both were reasonably happy with their choices, although the gammon chooser was rather disappointed that the egg was way overdone and hard. Myself and my wife just wanted a snack, so picked the prawn cocktail: “Succulent prawns in a Marie Rose sauce. Served on a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce, with cucumber and a lemon wedge. Served with multigrain bloomer bread & butter.” The bread was lovely! No lemon, no cucumber, no lettuce. Just a dish of prawns with enough sauce to nearly cover about maybe one and a half prawns. After eating a couple of prawns I noticed that most of them were still frozen, so I took them back to the bar. The guys were extremely apologetic. The replacements arrived and we were assured that they were different prawns, but it was still just a bowl of watery prawns with a droplet of sauce. Did we complain? Nah, couldn’t be arsed, but won’t go back. You have been warned.

I don’t normally write reviews about accommodation I stay at but… Stayed for a couple of nights as work had booked it. Shared bathroom for the 3 rooms was clean, however the shower was terrible. It appears that it should only be used on eco mode and heating cannot go above a certain level before cutting out with “low pressure warning”. Someone had marked this on the shower unit, so must be a known issue. No desk to work at in the rooms & wifi speeds are less than 3mbs download/0.45mbs upload, so unable to do any work in there. The room I stayed in was dated, did have black out curtains but also had an emergency light with green LED that made sleep near impossible. The pub looked nice enough, but TBH would not stay here again.

Arrived at the pub to spend the night there. Had booked in for dinner which was very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The steps to the accommodation are very steep so not for the disabled. The bed was comfortable but the pillows had seen better days and were very flat. Also, no one had been round the paintwork with a damp cloth in a long time as the dust was stuck to it and the room could do with an overhaul but value for money.

Great local village pub. Good range of beers, fairly standard menu range, that is good value and served to all areas including outside. Jade is an excellent front of house manager able to multi task drinks and food service for customers with consummate ease and friendly smile.

All good except one gin and lemonade cost over £6 ! When I queried it I was told I was charged for 2 lemonades as I asked for a splash more! Bare in mind this was from the tap and not a bottle! This has never happened anywhere else ever ! I am feeling ripped off and angry!

Lovely pub, just stopping by while visiting the Arboretum. I’m sure I’ll be back :) Nice beer, nice atmosphere, nice pork scratchings. The kind barmaid even let me charge my phone for a bit with her charger. Many thanks!
