The staff are superb, the pub itself looks lovely and is well presented. The food.. I'd say 2 star. The food is on par with a cafe standard but remains at a restaurant prices.I ordered the steak and ale pie, it came smaller than a Wrights pie with about 7 chips.. I'd drive passed and go to Aston Marina or The Wayfayer at Stone. The food let's the place down. STAFF were great though.

Where do I start is the real question. From the second me and my partner walked in we were greeted warmly and shown straight to our room, the staff were friendly and made a real effort to make sure everything was up to expectations. The food was absolutely outstanding and couldn’t be faulted, I would recommend coming here to eat to anyone. This was genuinely one of the best bed and breakfasts I have ever been to and I will definitely be returning. Thank you for making sure me and my partner had a smashing weekend.

I visited here on mothers day and had their 3 course mothers day menu. I had the fish cake, lamb shank and the peachs for desert. All we very very good. The lamb literally fell off the bone and we all big portions. The house white was excellent as well. Left feeling very full and the staff were friendly and helpful. Would reconmend and will be returning

This wasn't my first visit, I've been several times over the years, but here's a rundown of the restaurant side of the D&D.Online booking for 4 people was straightforward, and the menu was available online to peruse, which is always nice. It tells you you have the table for 2 hours, which is good so you know beforehand. We were dining at 8, so there wasn't going to be anyone after us anyway. Went with my brothers and my Mummra for a special meal rather than a bog standard pub. Service gets 4 stars, well attended to throughout, good turnaround and went to check questions about beers when they couldn't remember what ales were on. Only slight criticism was they could have been slightly 'warmer', but I understand waiting on is not the funnest gig at the best of times.Atmosphere/environment is good and you can always judge a good restaurant by the toilets which were nice and clean.I had the nduja sausage scotch egg for starters, which was without doubt the best scotch egg I've ever had. Hats off to the chef! For the main, I thought I'd go for the ramen because I love Asian cuisine, and it reminded me of Japan. It was very good. My family had a mix of the other meals on offer, and everyone was satisfied with their food. The meal size was spot on. Food is not cheap but also not expensive, with drinks I think it came to around £35 per head for 2 courses each.Definitely somewhere I'd return to for other special occasions.

I haven't been in the Dog & Doublet pub for years as when last went in kept getting asked by the waiting on staff if we would be eating!!! After second time of asking it felt like as we shouldn't be sitting at table by Woodburner just having a drink... ☹️?

This hotel looks brilliant from the road side and should be a gold mine.In my younger days I worked as a chef in many country pubs throughout the Yorkshire dales. If I'm being honest I was disappointed last night with my first visit to the Dog & Doublet.I took one look at the menu and told the wife I couldn't find anything on the menu I liked. It was 8pm on a Saturday night and my wife said we'd be hard pushed to find anywhere else now so let's just have something and go.My wife had Fish pie and mash & I had fish and Chips.Incidentally I never eat fish and chips unless I'm at the Sea side but everything else on the menu came with mash or pasta and I didn't fancy that. Plus the meals looked so small and the fish and Chips was the only plate that looked of a decent size.My wife enjoyed her meal. Both meals were about £16 which you would expect to pay in that kind of restaurant so no problem there. We asked for a dessert menu & the waiter said there's no menu but I can tell you what I've got so clearly no idea what we were getting or how much it was going to cost.I ended up with Bread and butter pudding which was nicely presented and very tasty but at a cost of £7 which I thought was quite expensive for what it is.That said, our meal was all presented well and tasted good.My issues are lack of menus, lack of choice and options.Example: Pork stroganoff served with rice or pasta. Not just pasta.Or pie served with choice of chips or mash, not just mash.I think these days they spend more time on presentation than actually making the food taste good.Food & drinks: Menu needs a complete overhaul as it was very limited.

I'd just like to thank the staff at The Dog & Doublet Inn for helping organise and deliver my wife's 60th Birthday Breakfast for 28 guests on Sunday 18th February 2024. The whole event went brilliantly and EVERYONE enjoyed it, in fact people who'd never visited said they would pop in for breakfast themselves now they knew it's whereabouts. Many thanks to the whole team ????
