Just returned after a birthday celebration with my family. I don’t know what has happened but the service was shocking in the orangery restaurant. We waited 1 hr 30 minutes for food to arrive. Staff looked miserable. Didn’t pay any attention to us, we felt ignored on what should have been a memorable meal for my Dads 80th birthday. The waitress practically thumping down the food and the manager at the end asked us if we were ok in a tone that I can only describe as snotty. Food very expensive for what is was. Bland steak, coffee terrible and cheese board at £14 was supposed to be for sharing with 5 of the smallest pieces of cheese I have ever seen and 4 crackers. I was 18 when I first visited the most house and I’m now 52, and during this time I have visited it lots of times, it used to be a special treat with the wow factor. I would say that the food is now just average and service is dismal. Such a shameFood & drinks: I have had better steaks at my local pub and definitely better service.

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. Family room was perfect for our needs. Breakfast was simply amazing. All the staff ( especially Jane in the dining room ) were very friendly and helpful.Gave room 4 stars as slight mould in shower that could have easily been sorted . Will be returning shortly so will see if they have cleaned it !Food & drinks: Didn't have evening meal as had other plans - the restaurant is not open on Sunday nights, but plenty of bar food available if you want it. Lovely choice for breakfast, very generous portions. Staff were able to meet my non diary needs.Dining in the Orangery was just breathtaking...lovely and bright with views over the grounds

The function went very well, looking over the canal is really nice. Staff very helpful so please pass this on to them all, I witnessed some difficult customers but the staff were impeccable. Main could have been hotter, only luke warm & had to wait a very long time for the last 2 mains on our table. Fennel really hard not cooked but everything else was nice & presented well

Service was very bad, we paid for our hot drinks but the barmen served other people at the bar before we eventually went to make our drinks. When they finally arrived, my coffee was cold. The table was dirty, my friend said can we have the money back and leave, this was before the drinks arrived. Won't go again.Walkability: Beautiful walks and very nice surroundingsFood & drinks: I didn't eat there on this occasion but usually the food is very good.
