Note to the chef, don’t be so mean on the gravy when serving a roast! It’s probably one of the lowest cost items on the plate but when faced with a virtually dry roast it’s not a great experience.
IZI NICE

Apparently only just re opened after a face lift. Visiting from some 180 miles away. Staff very friendly and on the ball, always with a smile. Food, well, absolutely spot on, delicious. Here for 2 nights. Shall I eat here tomorrow or across the road, well it is going to be here for my evening meal, well worth it. Point to note, the website booking app says full, phone up, it is worth it. Nice atmosphere, background music. Friendly place, going the extra mile.

Had an early dinner today (5.30pm arrive), and was quieter than I'd expected...lovely. Service was amazing. Thankyou Stacey, you made hubby's birthday with a special surprise dessert for him.Used my Tesco clubcard vouchers - even better value for money! :-)

Just want to shout out to the waitress your Caoimhe who served us few weeks back can I just say she is a credit to the pub, thankyou your manners politeness and professionalism was given throughout our dining service, It was lovely to say a young lady with a huge smile and be so polite It is rare to see that these days, I don't live not far from there been few times in the past and to be honest the not the best welcoming but you certainly changed my mind, see you soon Shire Horse
I was here for lunch with my family, the food was lovely, service great. I had chicken and ham pie and veg. Very tasty. Then sticky toffee pudding. Loved it. The only issue was deciding what to have. !. We all really enjoyed our meals. Will definitely call again.

I live within walking distance and so I really wish this place was as good as it was back in the day, but it just isn't. Last night, my husband ordered a meal that contained 'maple glazed carrots', only it didn't. The pie was soggy and my chicken breast was tough. We ordered desserts and what we got what a couple of microwaved things, and my soggy apple pie had a pile of watercress on it. At least the beer is gorgeous and the place looks amazing, but I miss the old days.

We were staying at the Premier Inn next door and wandered over for what we thought would be an very average meal. But we were blown away by the whole experience at the Shire Horse. From start to finish the service was friendly, helpful and efficient. The drink and food came quickly and nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff. The food was cooked perfectly and was very good quality. A really delicious and enjoyable meal. Highly recommended! Would choose to stay at this Premier Inn in future when passing this way just so we can eat at the Shire Horse. It was that good!
