Went here with dad and my 2 brothers , we were all really happy with the food, it was delicious.Service was quick, pizza oven pizza was tasty, fish and chips portions were generous and the fish was amazing.Sat in the pub garden which was nice.Couldn't fault it.

Just had one of the best meals I’ve had in a pub in a long time. Quite fancied a burger .... and it didn’t disappoint! It was huge, with oodles of juicy burger, very fresh salad and the perfect fries! Service was exemplary: just the right amount of time between delivery of our drinks and coming back for the order; food served promptly but not so fast as to be alarming; by staff who were both pleasant and reassuringly knowledgable. Well done Gainsborough. Never eaten here before, we’ve earmarked it now for our cinema at the quay nights in the future.

We have visited The Gainsborough tonight (13.06.2022) as we are visiting Sudbury from the West Midlands. The food was absolutely delicious, I had the Thai Green Curry which was bursting with flavour and so filling. The spice was just enough to give it a kick but wasn’t unpleasant or too spicy! My mom had the chicken supreme with new potatoes and asparagus. The potato’s were so tasty and slightly minted, chicken had lots of flavour and was very juicy. The pub clearly uses local fresh produce as the asparagus sprigs we’re huge and full of flavour.The staff were very polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We choose a table and a lovely lady polished it up and provided menus and took a drinks order. The drinks were brought to our table quickly and the wait for food wasn’t too long. The waiter checked back on us to ensure everything was okay with our meals to which it was outstanding! The waiter provided us with pudding menus and although we were so tempted by the Eton Mess we were absolutely stuffed.In the background there was a great atmosphere as the pub quiz was taking place. The quiz master was really funny for fun me and my mom had ago at answering the questions.Overall, we had a fantastic evening at The Gainsborough, fantastic quality food, good value for money, friendly & accommodating staff and great atmosphere! We highly recommend!

On a short break to Sudbury for a couple of night's we were unsure of where to est out. I'd read some good reviews about the Gainsborough so off we went to try it out. Easy to find and parked right outside. The food was of excellent quality and with great presentation. My daughter had the the Thai green chicken curry with rice and crackers and I had pan fried chicken breast supreme with buttered asparagus and minty new potatoes. Both meals were excellent and far exceeded our expectations. Service was great and in the background was a pub quiz which we, for fun, tried to guess the answers. We had a great evening and would definitely recommend.

Table of 6 booked for 4 pm (birthday celebration) Arrived and was left standing at the door for 10 minutes before we were seated. After being seated we waited 25 minutes before asking if someone could take our drinks order!! After 45 minutes we received our drinks and asked if we could order food. Only to be told that everything we asked for wasn’t available. At this point we paid for our drinks and left. The service was very poor and we won’t return

Me and my partner had Sunday lunch in here on the 29th May. I had the Roast Pork for a nice change and Richard had the beef. The presentation was again impeccable, and the food was cooked to perfection by Mark the wonderful chef, the service is off an extremely high standard, and Annabel and Sean always take time to interact with customers with a big friendly welcome. I wouldn't go anywhere else for food in Sudbury. 10 out of 10 overall amazing ?

We went to the Gainsborough for the first time in a few months for lunch on Easter Saturday, and I have to say that the food was excellent, beer was great, and the service top notch. The chef is clearly very creative, and our food was superior to most pub fayre. There are plenty of interesting and innovative choices on the menu, and I noticed that they have now added tapas as an option.

Our group had the misfortune of experiencing some issues at Mother's Day; the management very generously invited us back to help put it right and give themselves the chance to show how good they can be. So glad we made the effort. Nothing was too much trouble. Front of house was very professional, warm and attentive. Food, was of a very high standard across all the items we chose. It is with huge pleasure than I can genuinely give this eatery a glowing recommendation and offer my personal gratitude to the whole team! Huge smiles and rather rounded stomachs as we left.

Couldn't fault the Gainsborough. We didn't have starters but all four mains and desserts were A1. The Adnams Ghost Ship was very well kept too. Definitely be returning.

Popped in for a couple of beers mid afternoon whilst out shopping. The IPA was possibly the best we have tasted. The Bar Manager / Landlord clearly knows how to look after his cellar.The menu is very tempting. We will sample the food when we return. ?
