Visited on a Saturday lunchtime after a walk with the dogs. A lovely friendly place. Had a conversation with the super friendly Landlady about dogs. The Sutton Ale was very tasty and a great pint. Definitely recommend a visit here.

Came here for a drink and was made to feel very welcome, so much so, we returned in the morning for a fabulous breakfast. Our dog was made a fuss of which is always a big plus point for me. See you again very soon as want to try that carvery!

Visited in August after visiting the area for a number of years and never seeing this place open, so this year we had to go in when we noticed it open. So glad we did, Maxine and Carl were so welcoming, service was spot on, the place was absolutely spotlessly clean, the locals really friendly and atmosphere was great. We had breakfast cooked by Maxine and it was absolutely amazing, fresh, delicious and such good value for money. It became our local for the holiday and can’t wait to return in July.

We stayed overnight in our campervan and ate in the pub. Very warm welcome, great beer and food. I'd recommend the pub as a great place to stay when visiting Sutton Hoo.

Whispering win

Lovely to see this place open again. Drive past many times in the past but seemed hit and miss when it was open. Glad to see new owners finally and enjoy a pint. Had breakfast which was fantastic, great banter and very friendly and welcoming ?

We found this little pub whilst lost on the way to a campsite. Such a warm friendly welcome and so helpful in advising us how to get to our destination. We came back another day for food and a desperate plea to charge a phone. Again the best welcome and service from staff, and friendly locals. Lovely classic pub food and nice selection of beer, and also dog friendly. Will definately be back when we are next in the area.Thank you Sutton Plough!

Found this little gem after a long trek around Rendlesham Forest. The land lady was so friendly and couldn’t do enough. It was so interesting to talk to her about the pub. Only recently taken over, the work they have done on the building is unbelievable. The decor and atmosphere in the bar was impeccable, with a dart board and a decent sized pool table. Food was smashing, we sampled the ploughman’s and the fish & chips. Decent portions and good quality pub lunch. The outside has recently had quite a bit of renovation. There is a ample patio area with picnic tables and a lawn area for kids to explore. I dined here with my three children with special needs and a puppy. The staff were so attentive and a pleasure to be around. The chef also popped out and taught my son how to play Boules! So not only did we have a wonderful lunch, we also had great fun playing outside. This establishment is up and coming. Suitable for families, dogs and has fair access for disabled visitors. Great place and we will 100% return soon.

Great little Village pub, very welcoming , good ale, has also a selection of lagers, and ciders. Also has a restaurant doing proper pub food. For motorhomers, you can stay in the car park for a night if you use the pub, and who would not use this little gem.Parking: Big car park.

We needed a venue for light refreshments following the funeral of Flo my mother-in -law who lived in Shottisham. From start to finish we were offered a clear welcome, affordable menu within what we asked for that was both delicious and well presented. All our guests commented on how nice the buffet was. Thanks to the Maxine & the Plough team, we would happily recommend your pub, based on our experience today.
