Nice hidden away place. Didn't realise there was parking behind it.Oddly for St Patrick's day, they didn't have any Guinness??The food was just a bit underwhelming for the price. It sounded nice on the menu, but when it turned up it was only a small step up from a MacDonald'

Food is superb, the service could have been faster as the place was empty. Very clean but lost the village pub feeling it once had.

Booked on a whim as we wanted a Sunday roast. Have driven past multiple times and thought we should try it. The beef roast was lovely. Just the right amount of food. Being honest the pub was very quiet on arrival but this proved to be to our benefit. We ordered the food and it was with us in about 10 minutes. The beef was clearly from a decent sized piece as the pieces we received were a good size and plenty of it. Service was also good from the bar staff and the chef popped out to check all was good with our food. We will certainly be coming back.

Quite an exceptional place. The food was very tasty and you can tell that care had been taken over it to ensure it was flavoursome. The service was spot on and we were especially impressed by the young Indian student who was serving. Lovely atmosphere inside the dining area, clean and tastefully decorated. Well worth visiting .

Please do not waste your money on this place. Terrible, luke warm food and extremely slow service. Whilst we were there, we also overheard nearly every table also complaining. I would absolutely NOT RECOMMEND The Castle Inn, Ottershaw.

Just been for Sunday lunch to celebrate my daughters birthday. The service was terrible. There was just one person trying to do everything. He had no chance of providing a good service. The food was late and the quality was very poor. The roast beef was inedible the potatoes and vegetables weren’t cooked properly. I had the beef burger but that was just a frozen burger badly cooked. The roast chicken was ok but had the same difficulties with the potatoes and vegetables. My youngest daughters sausage and chips didn’t come with the peas as advertised. The fish and chips were the only thing that was ok. The food was overpriced. The pub was cold. We weren’t offered any condiments or sauces. After I complained they took 3 meals off the bill which I then paid only to realise that a 12.5% service charge was included!!!! The Castle is a lovely pub but recently the food and service has been very very poor. You can’t build a good reputation by apologising for poor quality. If you are going to charge £17.50 for a Sunday roast it should be edible. I won’t go back until it has improved and I would not recommend to anyone.

We had never been before and left it late to book for Sunday lunch… this pub came up on Opentable and we decided to check it out with friends. The chicken roast was really good, full of flavour and good quality food. The service was good and we didn’t have to wait too long at all. The pub seemed quiet empty which was surprising considering how good the roast was. We will defiantly be back

Having booked and driven an hour to get here, I arrived to find that the kitchen was closed and was told that the website sometimes gets it wrong!! Was told to go elsewhere!! Don’t bother coming.

Visited with family & our well behaved dogs. Clean environment, clean tables, Lovely food, food arrived hot & well presented, attentive & welcoming staff, a very pleasant experience. We are definitely fans of this lovely pub/restaurant & will be visiting again soon.

We were told our wait would be 20 minutes, and we ended up waiting 40. Our waiter told us after around 25-30 minutes that our food would only be 3-4 more minutes, and we still ended up waiting longer. Two of our three dishes were cold and the burger had tomatos and lettuce even though we requested not to have those. The food was very nice nonetheless, if only it was served warm and the way we requested. The blond waiter with the deep voice seems to be very forgetful, he was the one to take the burger order incorrectly, tried serving us orange juice we did not order, and I noticed him mess up a drink order for the table opposite us.

A last minute decision to eat out and remembered a Facebook notification advising of a new menu at The Castle. Always a friendly welcome and tonight was no exception. Hubby had the pulled pork scotch egg- looked amazing - lovely runny egg inside and Mr said it was very tasty too. I had the chicken and trufffle croquettes- yum! Tasty tender chicken inside. Followed up with the mushroom linguine-again very much enjoyed. I had the seafood linguine- lovely sweet tender mussels, prawn and beautifully cooked salmon in a gorgeous sauce. Not a bad Thursday night out. Will be back soon
