Incredible. 5 stars simply isn’t enough!! Myself and my partner have been coming here since the summer, and it’s become our weekly go to. The food is in a league of its own, and the friendly atmosphere and wonderful staff add a special touch. I highly recommend a trip to the Black Swan!

Sat at a dirty table, had to ask to see the menus, took another 20mins to take a drink order, ordered a child’s meal to come out with the starters but that diddnt arrive, one of the starters was a soup that came out cold, took 1.5hours for the main meal to arrive again served barely warm, when bill finally arrived they added on extra deserts I’m glad we checked and then had the audacity to start gossiping about our table when we said to take off the service charge (£34) as we had to ask for menus, food, and even just getting attention for drinks. In there a total of 3+ hours for a slightly above average overpriced meal, I have had better service at greasy spoons.

Lively, welcoming pub with characteristic decor and furnishing.Staff look after you well and the place is kept clean.Food is a bit steep in price but tastes good.Some vegan & vegetarian options as well.

The Black Swan has been a favourite of mine for 40 years but this Sunday the chefs really excelled. I have been in the industry for most of my life so am super critical about food and service. The service here is always faultless. The food is always great but this Sunday was seriously up there! Everything was cooked to perfection on each course. My family laughed that I couldn’t fault anything. Seriously blown away….. outstanding!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Although I havent been here for a couple of years, I have been here many times before and would have previously agreed with the website description" A delightfully eclectic eatery the pub & restaurant" I therefore booked a table for 4 to meet with 2 senior family members who were visiting from Denver US for the 1st time in over 10 years where the Black Swan used to be their local pub and eatery. In my mind a perfect place to relax, meet, talk, reminisce and catch up with a nice convivial restaurant dining experience.Reality was so far from this. Yes the food was mostly OK although the crab burger was awful, lots of fried greasy tempura and little crab. However the overall dining experience was horrendous. The restaurant was quiet with only a few diners for a Friday evening, however there was a large party of what seemed like 40+ people or more who were occupying the bar area and had a extremely loud disco music at high volume which drowned all areas of the restaurant and pub areas. Even sitting at the far end of the restaurant we found it difficult to relax and hear ourselves speak and that was early evening. Our restaurant ambience evening was completely spoilt and we left at 9pm. I didnt say anything as we left as didnt want to make a fuss in front of my family guests. Clearly the management were only interested in taking our money and had ZERO concern for service and customer experience. Surely if you were planning such an intrusive event you would have had the decency to inform your dining customers who was booked (my booking done weeks before) to make them aware and give them the opportunity to change their booking BEFORE they arrived. Worst customer restaurant experience in recent memory and left me feeling I never want to return. Beware !!

We had a nice cosy booth and ate really nice food. Which was clearly freshly prepared. Wholesome hearty food, just what we needed after a day in the woods. Definitely recommend this place to everyone, and dog friendly too which was a nice bonus.
Really disappointing lunch. Poor presentation of food. Burgers sounded fancy and delicious but were tasteless. Kids burger was £9 and barley had any meat. Given a discount off our bill but considering we didn't eat the food it was still £39. A real shame and we won't be visiting again.
