We had a family dinner at Umami for my daughter's 14th birthday. We had the restaurant to ourselves,(it was a Sunday evening) service was fantastic, food was delicious and the staff were so kind and attentive, they even gave my daughter a birthday card when they discovered it was her birthday. We brought our own cake for her, which they happily allowed, bringing it out at the end of our meal, singing happy birthday to her. Really enjoyable evening. Thank you Umami xx

This is a fantastic Japanese restaurant - perfect for lunch. We liked it so much that we went two days in a row, and could only wait a week before going again! I recommend their Bento Boxes, which are generous, well-priced, and very tasty! Try their temaki handrolls, too - delicious!

Ordered a takeaway for 5 and not disappointed - The food was lovely and tasty - a real mix of things which made it even more enjoyable. The staff are helpful and friendly.Yes the restaurant is a bit spartan but then again you end up paying for that generally in the food: all the best places I've ever eaten on the world are plain and simple letting the food speak for itself - and it does in bucket loads - Thank you

Can't really comment on the atmosphere as I was the only one in there but the meal was lovely, and an excellent pre match meal of seafood with noodles. A misunderstanding meant that I ordered a full side order of Kimchi but a minor detail tbfThe lady serving is lovely and I got given my menu by a delighful little toddler - so sweet

Beautiful little authentic restaurant! The sushi is incredible with a huge range of options (whether you're a raw fish kind of person or not) and the hot dishes are delicious. I've never been to Umami without over-ordering and always have leftovers to take home for lunch the next day. Proper little unexpected gem in Dorking.Vegetarian options: Clearly marked menu - veggie / vegan sushi options as well as tofu / vegetable based dishes.Kid-friendliness: Rarely packed as they do a lot of takeaway/delivery business so a safe bet with kids (if they like Japanese food!)Wheelchair accessibility: No steps - toilet may be a little small for accessibilityDietary restrictions: Menu is well marked with gluten free / vegan / vegetarian options highlighted. Accommodating and friendly staff.

Very disappointing, had a beef ramen a few days ago that was lovely so I ordered it again tonight and it’s nowhere near as good it’s just got some horrible seaweed and sweetcorn it, had to add my own greens etc probably won’t be back
