Wanting something a little bit different to Xmas roast I opted for the fish. The most disappointing Christmas meal ever: Monkfish thermidor, a very small portion containing very little fish and served with 5 tiny potatoes.Very poor indeed.

6-7 items was off the menu today due to fan problems, to be honest we was left with a chicken option which was a chicken breast chopped up with tarragon and mushrooms and a wedge of bread. We would not return back to this restaurant at all. Very poor and didn’t even get a discount for the distribution…. Hope you do better, but unfortunately we will not be returning.

Stopped by on our way home and was happily surprised by fabulous food and a great Tilford pint.Vegetarian options: Several veggie options. We had the pasta and the mushroom burger. Both excellent

Was a great pub for food a few years ago, but my last visit was a bad experience where both the food and service were poor.

Excellent food, gastro rather than standard menu, and a wide range of drinks. There is a huge outdoor seating area and ample parking.

Went here for a birthday meal on a Monday and had an early reservation. Upon arrival we were shown to seats which were right next to a door even though the restaurant was empty, the draught that came through was so cold I sat with my coat on. There were no radiators on and the open fires were unlit. It was uncomfortable to say the least. We were advised that 3 things from the menu weren't on that night, and I will be honest and say we found the menu VERY limited. No hearty winter dishes, no selections of steaks and it was all a bit pretentious. After ordering 2 minute steaks we were told only one was available which left one guest opting for a burger, which was the only suitable option for them instead. The steak itself was chewy, cold and full of fat, so hugely disappointing. The habit of putting all of your items in seperate bowls on a plate or wooden tray is one of my least favourite things which restaurants do nowadays. The plates were cold and with all the food separated, that went cold pretty fast too. The ale selection was dreadful with only 1 available. The toilets may as well have been outside in a garden as they were beyond freezing. It really isn't comfortable or inviting having such a cold restaurant in the winter months. Didn't see a single member of a management team, it seemed to be run by 2 girls that looked extremely young and were more interested in talking, extremely loudly, amongst themselves and laughing like they were at a comedy show rather than working. Even though we were sat quite far away from the bar area there were a few occasions when we actually had to raise our voices in our group of 4, in an EMPTY restaurant I might add, to actually hear each other. It was unprofessional to say the least. Whilst we understand the restaurant was quiet that doesn't mean its a jolly up for staff members. I was unaware of the service charge until after we had left but had I noticed when we were there, there is no chance I would have agreed to it. I've loved this pub over the years, have always found the food to be excellent, the staff accommodating and its always had a lovely buzz about it. It was such a shame to experience it like this as it has certainly made us not want to return. It was over priced, uninviting, freezing cold and empty. All you can hope for is that it goes back to how it always used to be and that the staff are given better training and maybe some older management members are there to supervise.

Very poor quality meal - the Monkfish Thermidor was very very hot as if microwaved, very dried out and really salty. It came with 5 small slices of roast potato only. Good job I wasn't very hungry. At almost £20 for the dish this is terrible value for money. Service was ok but they looked run off their feet, no time for small talk. V disappointing, won't be back.

Lovely atmosphere, good food - ate from the brunch menu. Although I've had an evening meal here as well, and I'd have given that a 5 star. Fantastic staff.

A welcolming and friendy restaurant. We had a great window table. Very busy. Menu options great. Large wine selection too. Sadly, they had sold out of my 1st choice. So maybe needed to tell us when handing out menus. A few different ways of serving food... Fish goujons for kids was a medium size battered fish. But kids very happily devoured it. Steaks were sliced up and inconsistently cooked, as we both had well done. But still very tasty. I would still recommend it. And definitely go back for desserts.

Booked festive meal on line, on arrival after being sat at our table told that the festive meal was not available. Then to add insult to injury they took our drinks order they returned to say that they did not stock one of our drinks. Ended up having fish and chips and this is why we give them one star because the fish was excellent. Never again.
