Hot chocolate was great! Burgers (chicken and halloumi) dry and not too tasty, seafood pasta not good. If looking for a pub to take the dogs and have a drink - this is a great spot, very relaxed. If looking for nice food, avoid, there are plenty of better pubs in the area.

Disappointed on Friday. Fish and chips were had but there was more batter than fish and it was very small. Chips filled one plate but another had much less. Peas were not cooked enough. One meal was the pie but this was just a very small slice , considering the price this was not value for money. The crumble for pudding was apple and berries but didn't see a berry, also the apple was not fresh but appeared to be in a syrup, the crumble tasted hard and strange. All in all no one really enjoyed it . previous meals have been much better. Will not be returning anytime soon

What a Gem - thank you Brit Stops! Lovely friendly, informal ‘real’ pub. Food was delicious, and realistically priced. Owner and staff very friendly and welcoming, as were the clientele. We will return. A joy to find such a lovely, well run establishment. You deserve success!

Once again, I failed to finish the childrens roat beef. Cannot imagine the size of the adult potions. Always good service and the food is knock out.

Good vibrant country pub with friendly staff BUT limited selection of beers. The road beef looked great but sadly was tasteless with a gravy which tasted like a weak soup. Complained to waitress who apologised. The worst roast dinner I’ve ever had.

Great Sunday

We selected the venue due to its convenient location to a morning walk on the South Downs. Initial reaction was very positive with a warm welcome and a pleasant ambience. We all selected Beef sirloin as a main course. The meal arrived swimming in a very mediocre gravy immediately initiating a negative response. The beef though it must be said plentiful was tasteless and tough to the degree that my wife could not eat it. Rather than return the meal she elected to eat the veg rather than delay others meals. Her dissatisfaction was brought to the attention of the waitress but no apology or compensation was offered. The wrong dessert was then brought resulting in a delay. We aired our disappointment when the bill came with no recognition of the poor service and food, Sadly in the absence of an apology or explanation by the management our only recourse waso not leave a tip, which penalised the waitress rather than the establishment. Really poor experience not to be repeated or recommended

Amazing staff. Created at the entrance and seated to our table. Staff were attentive, friendly and easy to approach. Food was amazing, fresh, hot and In great time considering it was very busy. I would recommend this place as a must visit!.. Can't wait to come back soon. Thanks Sportsman Staff for a great time.

Lovely pub and friendly staff, however the food wasn't up to par, my wife had a chicken burger that was dry and I had sausage and mash which was ok...we had a desert, a chocolate brownie ice cream which cost £8.95 was not great value for money either and they can't make an Irish coffee to save there lives this all came to about £65 and really wasn't good value; a shame cause we really wanted to like it needless to say we won't be going back.

Decent roast. Like everything in the UK now it’s almost unaffordable. £8.90 for a Brake Bros frozen then microwaved sticky toffee pudding that costs about £1.25 when bought in bulk is taking the piss. At that price you could and should be making your own. A load of spoons just chucked on the table with no serviettes for it as well. Problem with the UK now is that all these places think they can just charge loads of money because of costs, hire loads of staff and never train them. I’ll be back for a pint as I walk my dog here but really, the food is out of my reach now.

Great little pub, but it has problems people parking in their car and going on walks, and when pub custerm comes along, the car park is full. TIP the pub car parking system in place for their customers, so when you arrive, tell the bar staff that you have and will give a ticket ? to park so you fine.

We asked Lisa and her team to host my mothers Wake, obviously a very emotional and sad day for our family and friends. Those who attended ranged from young and elderly and the Sportsman’s team went out of their way to offer condolences to all, exemplary service and attention (even to the little ones), lovely spread of food for all ages, and a super relaxed environment, whilst keeping a keen eye on everyone's needs. A huge Thank You again from us…..and a special note to Jake…..who was a star!
