Great place to visit. Cozy fireplace, friendly staff and loved the little handy shop inside the pub. We'd been to Barmouth and called in on our way back to Llangynog for a couple of drinks and a bit of shopping!Parking: For wider vehicles can be a Squeeze through drive/road next to pub to use the car park. Our 4x4 was fine just have to take it steady.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp runs from car park to the door.

Stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon during our journey to North Wales. Delightful staff and locals. We enjoyed chatting with them while sipping our wine. Food looked delicious, but we did not eat while there.

The pub has recently come under the ownership of the local community and has new management since December 2023.My wife and I ate here on New Years eve and were both incredibly pleased. I ordered the roast beef which was beautifully tender and flavourful. The roast potatoes were crispy and golden and the cauliflower cheese and red cabbage were both first rate, fresh and not overcooked. I really don't think there is a better roast dinner available in North Wales. My starter of French Onion soup really packed a punch. Sorry - it was so good I'd destroyed it before taking the photo. Overall the pub had a warm friendly atmosphere and well-trained staff who were attentive. This is a great pub for circular walks on the Aran or Arenig range, passing bikers, or for those looking to venture the other side of the lake from Bala in search of a more rural setting.

My wife and I booked a table on a Thursday evening. It was quiet when we arrived and we were greeted by cheerful staff. I ordered the French Onion soup followed by the pork belly on mash. The soup isn’t something you often see on a menu and was balanced by meaty onion moreish goodness. The last two spoonfuls brought sadness; I wanted the bowl to be bottomless. The pork belly arrived with lightly steamed veg and was slow cooked with a crunchy toffee-like crust and set on a bed of mash into which a lot of herby flavour and butter had been smuggled. My wife had the garlic mushrooms which were a step up from the normal breaded offering. Incredibly garlicky, fresh mushrooms cooked through with a tarragon cream sauce, on a slice of crusty sourdough. Her smash cheeseburger in a pretzel roll had great texture and was “just the right side of dutty” Delicious hand-made coleslaw went some way to restoring respectability. We were the first to arrive, and by the time we rested our forks the pub which was thronging with other diners, the darts team, young locals and scrubbed up farmers chatting warm beery nonsense. Great cookery and cheerful company. The Eagle has Landed…and after that meal he’s not taking off again for a while.

One of the best food I ever had in the UK. At last a cooked meal.A well deserved 5 out of 5.

Lovely pub/restaurant. Food was wonderful ?, had the Chicken with pineapple and cheese... catered really well for my vegan wife ?Pub also acts as the local shop, pay at the bar for groceries ?Vegetarian options: Vegan options were better than the normal run of the mill establishments you find.

. Staff were friendly and food was served in a quick and efficient manner. The starter and main were great and reasonably priced as were the beverages but the sticky toffee pudding was disappointing and was expecting it to be better after the first 2 courses. Would recommend a visit if you are in the area.
