Yr Eagles Llanuwchllyn
Llanuwchllyn, BalaWe visited Yr Eagles this past Sunday and had an absolutely lovely experience. The staff were so friendly and really attentive and made special effort with our toddler which we appreciated. They even warmed and dried my coat by the fire after being caught in a downpour!
The food was delicious, particularly the mains. We mostly had roasts which were great, the carrots were a particular highlight (trust me!) One of our party was Vegan and had the curry which they were really happy with too.
The desserts were tasty and the ice cream, which is locally sourced, came in loads of interesting flavours and was totally delicious.
There's some activities (drawing/little toys) for toddlers/kids in the bar area, very sweetly hidden in the walls. We had a dog with us so we ate in the bar but there was a friendly atmosphere in there as all the locals started to come in.
Great experience, definitely stop in if you are in the area.

Stryd Fawr, 41 High St, BalaWe only popped in for a cheeky one while the football was on. Manchester City v Liverpool, and City won 4-0!
The landlord even let us fish and chips in the bar area in front on of the television! Thanks Gethyn!

The new manager and his team were helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly. If you are looking for a high quality, reasonably priced meal, it’s highly recommended.

White Lion Hotel
B4501, Cerrigydrudion, CorwenStaying locally, and with the day's plans cut short because of the weather, we arrived much earlier than booked for our family meal. We were made very welcome from the outset, with the roaring log fires and decent bar selection setting us up perfectly. The meal was top notch, absolutely top notch. The lasagne received high praise from the family, as did the cheese, leek and sweet potato pie. The chocolate brownies achieved their goals too. A few games of pool and darts afterwards, all set within a friendly and welcoming place. The Cerrigydrudion locals could not wish for a finer local.

Caffi Woody's Cafe
2 Pensarn Rd, BalaPassing through by Bala Lake and stopped for a cuppa and bite to eat.
One latte and three small cake slices was just under £15. Plus the £5 we spent on parking up for under half an hour made it a very expensive and underwhelming experience, saved only by the stunning views of Bala Lake.

Star Kebab House
57 High St, BalaWe stayed near Bala for 4 nights. We had eaten out a couple times and got a takeaway 2 other nights. Without a doubt this is the best thing we've eaten during our visit! I got the chicken shish kebab, it was beautiful. Perfectly cooked chicken, not at all dry and so tasty. It was a big order for 6 people total, everything was spot on. Family said the diner meat too was amazing. They offered us complimentary cheesy garlic bread and bottle of pepsi. I highly recommend this takeaway!

We had set meal of 2 thinking maybe the portions would be smaller.
First of all, food was amazing.
Starters (onion bhaji, chicken tikka)
Mains (chicken tikka masala and chicken pathia)
Side Aloo gobi.
Every single dish was mouth watering.
Portions were bigger than expected so we had to take some home.
All in all fantastic place to visit with great food and service.

Badell Aur Restaurant
35 High St, BalaY Badell Aur makes a stop at Bala well worth while. It's a brilliant restaurant and is the last oasis before Porthmadog if you are heading west and in need of a bite to eat. I've been going there for decades - I've always had a friendly welcome and a decent meal for a fair price. It's not the cheapest, but the quality is very good, it's always spotlessly clean, and it has an old-school kind of feel to it that I really like. You can normally park outside or nearby for free, and there is always the option of a take-away of you fancy having your dinner looking out from your car over the magnificent Llyn Tegid. Thanks to everyone at Y Badell Aur for helping me out a lot over the years, I appreciate what you do.
