Great place just outside of Bangor.Such a warm welcome and service. Will be staying again. I am sure of it.Didn't give 5 for room as didn't get any shower gel, which seems trivial but didn't bring any as it is normally expected...

Christmas work lunch held here, arrived at the reception area a big roaring fire to welcome us, led to the table by the staff, the table was well laid out,and free Santa hats provided with the restaurant name on it.The table was for ten people, shame it was not a bigger table as we were packed in very cosily, and it was a bit difficult whilst eating, could have moved the table up more centrally, and placed people at each end of the table allowing more space to breathe. The meal was excellent, I had prawn cocktail, Christmas turkey dinner followed by the traditional Christmas pudding, very enjoyable, work colleagues also complemented their meals as well, staff were attentive throughout the meal. Will probably visit again in my own time. One thing to note the building is near the railway line, so trains do hurtle past on occasions, a bit of a rumble, once it has happened once or twice you soon forget the railway line is there.Food & drinks: Excellent Christmas work meal.

Fabulous stay at The slate. We arrived early as we’re going to Aber falls to do a gin experience. We were greeted by friendly staff who let us check in and showed us around. After our day out we returned to the slate. We had a drink in the bar and then headed into the restaurant for tea. The service and food was fabulous! The rooms were clean and well equipped with everything you could need and breakfast the next morning was great as well. We all felt very welcomed by all the staff and they went out of their way to assist in anyway they could. Would highly recommend to everyone!

Stayed with a friend to go to ZipWorld - I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere with more lovely people. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly for our entire stay. The room was perfect, super comfy beds, lovely hot shower, everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious. Had a curry one night which was amazing. We didn't have a car but easily got cabs where we needed to be. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again in the future. Thank you all for a wonderful trip!

We stayed here as we went to Zip world. Jill was lovely and she was really helpful and the staff were lovely too. Room was spotless and comfy. Only negative really was the lighting in the room was too dull but some people like that.We booked the restaurant for one evening and had the rib on the bone for two. It was amazing as we could choose either to have it as a steak each or as a platter. We chose a platter and it came with peppercorn sauce which was gorgeous. It was 60 pound for both but really worth the money. Will defo go back again.

We can only comment on the food because we've not stayed in th accomodation. Been twice now, and what a treat! Steak and Lobster at our first visit...amazing....not cheap but definitely value for money, accompanied with excellent service from the lovely dog loving bar man , Jill and the rest of the staff. Second visit, steak and ribs combo and the seafood chowder....absolutely gorgeous. No room for pudding so at some point will have to go for a starter and a pud, just to see what they are like. Dog friendlyness amazing...there is no where else locally where we can go to enjoy a lovely meal whilst taking our dog. Well done and thank you. Wendy, Dave and Thomas the cockapoo. Xx

Outstanding customer service, only surpassed by the quality of the food. The food was fantastic. Three course meal, every course a gem. Definitely book a table, and it is definitely worth a visit, just a joy.

Delicious roast. I live in Cardiff and when I come to North Wales the food options can sometimes feel a little dated and choice is less bountiful. Y Llechen can easily rival some of the best roasts of the capital city.I don't eat meat so I'm grateful there is a non meat option too. Service was great and the young girl serving us was absolutely lovely and spoke Welsh which is a HUGE plus.I try to give some constructive criticism in my reviews so if I were to improve Y Llechen I would ditch 'The Slate' and make the branding stronger by only using the Welsh name. As a designer myself, interiors is as important to a dining experience as the food so I'd also hire an interior designer, because while taste is subjective the silver and grey interiors doesn't feel warm and inviting and feels a bit tacky (sorry!). There was some beautiful art work on the walls that didn't stand out due to the grey everything!
