The website promises "an anthology of expertly crafted cask ales adorn the bar" but actually there's just a Marston's Pedigree tap and that's it. No Welsh casks here - just ordinary mass produced English bitter from many miles away.Food is Wetherspoons fayre priced at mid-range: it's hugely expensive compared to normal chain pub grub. £15 approx. fish and chips.Sad to see an big old Brecon icon with such character being run as a pricy English chain eatery.Staff are great, this is on distant management.

We had a 3 course lunch for £16.95, what a deal. Could probably charge more as the food, service and the overall feel of the place was beautiful. We will be back.

2 day stay for new year. Room clean, comfy beds but no electrical points near the bed.Meal on the first night was lovely although they had run out of our first choice.Staff were lovely, bar staff made lush espresso martinis.1st breakfast was good, very good pastries. 2nd day was buiser and the standard of food was unfortunate. The poor lady front of house had a lot to do. We were compensated for the wait when we came to pay for breakfast. We would return, nice position within the town.

Food was ok. Service was excellent. Dawn our waitress was very efficient. Warm and cosy. Had the food been a bit better, I would have given 5 stars, as I feel I've has better food at other venues in Brecon.

We love coming back to The Wellington Hotel in Brecon. Warm welcome and really attentive and friendly personnel. The rooms are good value: simple but with everything you need. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cosy (especially if you are in one of the seats next to the fireplace). The menu offers a wide selection of tasty food. The place is also very dog friendly, which is a huge plus. A big thank you to Janet and Georgie who have taken such good care of us in separate occasions. Raffaella, James & Charlie (the whippet)

We stayed here for our friend's birthday and had a great stay. The pub is really inviting, friendly staff, cosy log fire and pretty Christmas decorations. We had food in the pub when we arrived and it was really high quality. Our room was warm and cosy and although the bathroom needs a bit of a facelift, everything worked and was spotlessly clean. The party in the event room was really well run. Jacob and his team did an amazing job all night, even when the event room bar stopped working halfway through the night. The problem was well handled, we were all directed downstairs to the main bar and more staff discreetly moved to the main bar to make sure we got served quickly alongside the regular punters. Would 100% stay here again!

Great location to explore Brecon. Warm welcome at reception with a great range of beers to select from as well as a varied menu. Room had all the comforts for a comfortable short stay.

We were a family group eating on a Sunday evening. The front of house staff were all very friendly however, the service was slow, and the menu had numerous items not available. They offer a choice of menus for all day Sunday Roast however they had only one option left. They had also run out of chicken on the main menu and cauliflower cheese as an option. The food itself was generally OK although the medium rare steak that was ordered came cooked very well done.We did not return the steak as we had already waited quite a while however, to be fair, they did take the cost off of the bill.

Amazing place to eat, drink, and relax. We also booked a function here recently and the team made everything easy and stress-free. We were particularly impressed with Jacob who delivers outstanding service whenever he's working and is a real asset to The Wellington, which has gone from strength to strength in recent months. Very highly recommended.

Popped in for lunch today, a table of 4 without a reservation. We were seated and served by a young member of staff with short hair who's name we didn't catch. The service was friendly and welcoming even though they were working alone and quite busy when we arrived. Food was very tasty and filling, it arrived in a reasonable time and was hot. The smell of Sunday roast filled the restaurant as you arrived and it didn't disappoint. We will be visiting again. Thank you

Lovely venue. Lovely staff, but it took over three hours to serve a three course meal to 34 people on a scheduled event. Nice rooms, clean and simple Breakfast also took close to an hour.Parking: Parking immediately around the venue is short stay only.

We stayed here but didn't eat here. Good size room and comfy bed, everything was clean. Quite a small and tight bathroom and the shower head was broken. But the staff were nice and friendly

I took my parents there about a month ago and it was lovely. Sadly, last night was back to the old standards. We were not ask for our order and left after around 20 minutes. There was a very, very noisy drunken group of men who were not asked to be a little quieter. Other people started to leave the bar too due to the incessant shouting.

Thoroughly enjoyable late lunch, it was a Sunday unfortunately all Sunday lunch options had gone as we were there after 4.30pm.Didn't matter, Jacob was very attentive and patient. What made me realise Jacob is a great asset to the establishment was the way in which he spoke to evening shift staff on arrival. Again pleasant and agreeable not just to patrons.Couldn't give 5 * because it's almost impossible to be perfect, coupled with the fact there were no Sunday lunches left. Well worth a visit whilst in Brecon. ?
