After establishing some weeks before that the pub was open for drinks between 12 and 2 on Christmas Day, 4 of us popped in at 1:30. We waited approximately 5 minutes to be served at which point the barmaid rang for 'last' orders and immediately informed us that she could not serve us because the bell had been rung! Consequently we moved to the St Julians where we were made very welcome. This experience was especially disappointing as we 'were' regulars. I emailed them the following day but have not received any response.

Haven’t visited Red Lion for a number of years as the standard had dropped but decided to give it a chance again and we were not disappointed- a wonderful evening great service and staff so pleasant, really nice live music and we decided to have dinner - the whitebait was awesome and great value. We will return for sure.

Very cheap and friendly staff - set up in garden is a little crowded in terms of table numbers but perfectly pleasant

Went for a meal here as the place is dog friendly. Booked a meal for 6 people just an hour before we arrived. Very friendly staff. Very accommodating. Lovely helpful waitress. Food came promptly and was tasty on the whole, and reasonably priced. But the place itself was cold and uninviting. No atmosphere or ambience. A few lamps or candles would have made it cosier. But it was cold and lifeless. Other than that it was OK.

Lovely little pub, very friendly staff and the food was absolutely brilliant. Good value, too. Will absolutely be back.

Food here was great and very well priced. Sunday lunch and dessert for 2 people for less than £30. Can’t go wrong at that price!

Mid-week lunch for 3. Dining and bar areas spotlessly clean (as were the toilets). Good choices on the menu, just a few things not available (hence one dropped star). Service was excellent, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Very enjoyable food choices though potato and leek soup would have benefited from more leek. Butty Bach on draft, excellent. Will be happy to repeat this experience.
