We stayed in the accommodation above the pub. The electrics to the table lights went off (or on) as I plugged in my phone charger so there was a dangerous short somewhere.Music was very loud until 2am then there was lots of swearing outside for at least another hour.Pop in for a drink, but I would avoid for accommodation.

I haven't been in the Kings Head for years. I was on a hen do recently and we ended the evening in here. We just had one drink. The staff were pleasant and polite, but I thought the pub had gone downhill and was a bit of a dive to be honest! Music playing, some tables and chairs and a dance floor. Won't be in a rush to go back - sorry!

Always a great time in the King's head, Emma and John are always friendly and welcoming. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

We stayed for a night away from the kids and was warmly welcomed by Jon. He showed us our room with separate bathroom and private entrance. Room was lovely, recently refurbished and comfortable. We were looking forward to a relaxing stay. We popped out for food and a few drinks and returned to run a lovely bath. We had our bedroom door open as the bathroom was next door (not shared). All of a sudden I could hear someone else and it was an older lady who I presumed was Jon’s mother. No introduction or apology but was working from an office opposite our room which was very close and in our ‘private’ space. She kept the office door open whilst she was in and out. I entered the bathroom to my shocked partner laying in the bath to warn him not to come out in just a towel and closed all our doors. We spent the evening downstairs in the pub, enjoying the local darts and a few games of pool. Not the cheapest of prices on the alcohol for common selections. The sleep was awful, there’s a blue led light that lights up the room every time you move. It’s a sensor light like an alarm but you can’t do anything about it. The noise from the pub below is expected as is the general city centre traffic and refuse collections but the older lady decided to return through the night to bring in the laundry!! I’m not sure why this wasn’t done before we arrived or waited until after we checked out? The morning came and I heard the lady again and a television. I opened the room door to use the bathroom and there she was, working in the office with the door wide open watching tv at 7.30am. I tried to ignore it but by 8.15am, we were up and dressed before even making a cuppa as she clearly wanted us out. I asked to speak to Jon but he was unavailable (clearly enjoying a quiet sleep I assume). I gave my feedback to the lady who could only say that I could go back into the room, she would turn the tv off and go downstairs. I declined as we were packed and ready to leave. The room was about 30% cheaper than the average room at £55 but this does not warrant the Bates Motel experience that we got. The response online from Jon was “You can’t please everybody but for £55 it’s a bargain”. Sorry Jon but I disagree and with comments like that, you will lose customers quite quickly rather than taking my feedback on board. Your mother should not use that area during times that guests check in (3pm) until 10am the next morning.

Good place, stayed for 2 nights in the large room. Good lager and well priced, friendly and helpful bar staff.Toilet, bath, shower and rooms were to an excellent standard. Only annoyance was the side door with code got stuck when I returned late. Also, the door handle to my room was loose, not a massive issue as I tightened it but I did ask for a screw driver and didn't get one to sort the issue. There was music going on until closing time. I was in my bed and I hear NOTHING! It was great! 100% would book again.

A decent selection of beers and ciders. Ample room and friendly enough. The decor could use some work, and a wider selection of ales - if not on tap, then in bottles - would be nice. Centrally located to the town, though, which is nice.
