Tapas was some of the best I've had! The bread board was 11/10. Will definitely return.

The food was really good and the team who looked after us made it very special, they went over and above-decorating and brought out the cake the whole team singing Happy Birthday ?

Staying in the area and came to Chepstow for the day. Having a dog can limit the places you can go to eat, but this pub have tables outside overlooking the river. Had whitebait to share as a starter which was lovely. Then we had fish and chips which were fresh, crispy and a large portion and the meatballs as a light lunch which was tasty and the meatballs homemade in a lovely tomatoes sauce dish. Would definitely go again if in the area.

First of all, the people who work at the Riverside make everyone feel welcome. They are attentive and friendly, without being "in your face". We're local to Chepstow; we go to The Riverside often and have never waited particularly long to be served. The food is fresh and varied. If you like white bait, this is the place to go for it (served in a wire cage basket, crunchy, with excellent tartar sauce!) The lobster in garlic and butter is to die for (actually, that's a bit of a lie, as I ate it and I didn't die! I have to admit it's a bit on the pricey side, but worth every penny.) The monkfish with lentils is also superb! We contacted the chef a day in advance to see if we could order steaks (which are not normally on the menu) ; he ordered them in for us and they went down a massive hit with our 4 guests. The sea trout with asparagus was as delicious as any fish that I've ever eaten anywhere. If you're reading this and have the feeling that somehow I must be someone with a business interest in the Riverside, trust me, I'm not - but I live nearby and my wife and I go there at least one a week. My only regret is that they don't have cask ales on tap, so you'll have to make do with a selection of lagers, excellent wines, and cocktails. One final word of caution: they have a great selection of ice creams, including salted caramel; once you've tried it, you may be hooked on it for life, so be warned!

One of the nicest restaurant experiences we've had. Fantastic food with a great selection of seafood and a nice little kids menu too, friendly staff, great spot next to the river and the atmosphere and design of the place is very nice. My wife and kids said it was the best looking restaurant because of the decor.Kid-friendliness: Four our five choices on the kids menu. Good portion sizes and same amazing quality and taste

Wonderful staff having taken someone there in a powerchair, staff carried drinks to table and also found a lovely table on the flat. Food amazing and definitely going again xxParking: Having disabled badge there was no problem.

Gem of a restaurant, especially if you are a fish lover . Chose an amazing sea bass dish with tomato and asparagus perfectly cooked fish … grandson had an amazingly generous bowl of very large plump mussels. scallop starter was delicious …. Unable to fault this place , the chef took a personal interest in complex dietary requirements and gave more choice from the menu than i have known before . Service and staff attentive and on point … to top it all an fantastic location on the river, what more can you ask for ,

We had a lovely meal at this fish restaurant We shared crispy calamari and spicy prawns, although the calamari wasn’t crispy it was still nice, the prawns were delicious We then had fish and chips, this comes with mushy peas and curry sauce, which was excellent, it was a large portion so couldn’t eat all the chips Fish was very good

Nice place, friendly staff, nice dining room as well as outside tables. I had a thai curried halibut which was I'm afraid tasteless. The halibut was great but the curry was nothing like a thai green curry as promised - it seemed more like a bisque with chilli added. My wife had the sea bass which was very tasty so hopefully this was just a one off.

Our party ranged from my daughters in their 20’s to my mum in her 80’s and we all enjoyed the experience equally. We had starters and mains - no room for dessert. We all had fish which was exceptional. But the real differentiator was the staff - lots of places are struggling to give good service in my opinion particularly post Covid. But not here, the staff were efficient, attentive and friendly, would thoroughly recommend The Riverside.

Thursday afternoon visit, sitting by the river in the garden. This is our third trip here and it hasn’t disappointed once. Drinks are served with a smile and food comes in a timely manner and piping hot. Staff are always helpful! Best fish and chips in Chepstow for sure!

Today in Chepstow, my wife and I decided we would like Cod and chips for lunch. Being the proverbial penny pinchers we are, Weatherspoon's was on our radar. We arrived at Weatherspoon's by midday and noticed on the menu we could both save a couple of quid each by returning at 2pm which we did via the delightful Chepstow museum. We returned to the spoons at 2pm only to find they were out of fish and chips (arrrggggghhhh). At this point we then decided to visit the Boat Inn only to find that the kitchen closed at 2.30pm, we were so disappointed, but a friendly chap told us to go to the Riverside Inn as they served food there, so we did. Outside the the restaurant my wife and I conferred over whether the fish and chips was actually Cod and chips, I really don't like the tase of Pollack. A delightful young woman came over and asked us if she could help and I immediately asked if the fish was actually Cod, to which she said it was. So we went in and she showed us to our table. When I saw how much the fish and chips cost (£14.95) I had a sharp intake of breath, as Weatherspoon's was only going to charge £7.00 something on the lunchtime deal. Reluctantly, as I didn't want to trapse anywhere else for my grub, we requested the Cod and chips. Now I am also a bit fussy about my chips, as I like them hot and crunchy and not everywhere cooks them like that. To my surprise the meal arrived (I might add we didn't have to wait very long for it either) and it was a pleasant surprise. The chips were chunky (not a great lover of chunky chips) but they were hot and crunchy. The Cod portion was generous also. All in all I can recommend this dish as it was served well appointed with mushy peas and curry sauce in ramekins. The food was delicious, the surroundings congenial and the waitress.., simply delightful and attentive without being intrusive. Considering the journey we had to find this establishment, it was well worth the trip, so if you fancy a bit of fish and chips, you won't go far wrong by this place.

AMAZING. Chepstow needed a unique restaurant and this is it. Delicious seafood and Asian inspired dishes, very impressed. Businesses like this need our support.
