Wonderful food and excellent service in a lovely cozy atmosphere that felt laid back and relaxed. The hot bread and hummus was a delight but the star of the show was the steak and pepper sauce which was.perfectly cooked and the sauce was.incredibly moreish.

Food was good, if a little greasy. But overall would come back and have a different main course. My friend had been before with his wife and had a chicken balti and said how good it was.Atmosphere was only a 3 as not many people dinning, but wasn't a bad Atmosphere

Spent a couple of days in Hay and called into the pub twice. A really nice and cosy pub with the coal firing roaring away. On both occasions the bar maid (Teagan) was polite and efficient in her service despite being on her own serving drinks and food. The beer was well kept and fairly priced for the area. We had venison pie on the Sunday evening. This was served in good time, well presented and piping hot. The mash was buttery and well seasoned, gravy rich and tasty and the pie was lovely (with pastry top & bottom, not just a lid placed on top). Would recommend to anyone.

Can get busy but food good, good range of beers and one of the best pub atmospheres going. The recent expansion into a building which seems even older than the main bar has created much more space. Incidentally, although it's a pub, you can get a really fantastic pot of tea here: the best restorative in the Marches.

A wonderful pub/restaurant with fantastic staff, a warm welcome, relaxing atmosphere and super food. The 3 bean cassoulet with confit duck leg is the best I've ever had and the steaks are superb. I wish I was there right now. One of many gems in Hay on Wye, delicious brunches, great menu choices. Damn I miss that pub!

Food was ok, nice interior, nice fire but the young woman behind the bar wasn't very friendly in my opinion. Seemed like she didn't want to be there at all. The younger guy was fine but she had very little in the way of social skills for someone in hospitality. Very expensive food for what is it

Nice pub where you can meet with friends and good food, spend time with tasty beer.

Stayed and another venue locally where the room wasn't great and service terrible. So walking into this pub was a relief. The blonde guy on the bar (sorry didn't catch your name) was welcoming and super laid back. We had some lunch and food was so good we booked for dinner. Apart from the waitress giving my food to another table (these things happen some times) all sorted quickly and handled really well by the team.Food was stunning and would recommend.
