Three Tuns
Broad St, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordBeautiful old pub. Hidden gem down the
Bottom of hay town . Service was friendly and prompt once the place got busy. Beer was great ales on the ball. Food was only Sunday fare on, which was great . Bit tight on meat portion and roasts where cool. Cauliflower cheese was cold, but the fresh veg were pipping hot. Give it a try . Prices were about average.

Off Grid Gourmet
Walkers Cottage Campsite, parks road, HerefordOur experience at OFFgrid Gourmet by Hugh was simply wonderful! Set in an absolutely gorgeous location, it provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of finger-licking food—truly a feast with an endless array of delicious dishes. The smoked duck was a standout, cooked to perfection, but every dish was a treat. From the mushroom and truffle quiche to the tenderstem broccoli in miso sauce, walnut salad, and homemade hummus, each bite was packed with flavor. Finishing the meal with toasted marshmallows by the fire was a delightful touch. Plus, the BYO wine policy makes it surprisingly affordable. A magical dining experience that I can't recommend enough!
Vegetarian options: Hugh caters for vegetarians and all meat courses can be substituted to veggie options - which are superb!

The Old Black Lion
The Old Black Lion, 26 Lion St, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordArrived for a drink with my grumpy, elderly mother & her dog, forgetting it was Sunday lunch! We were welcomed by a friendly gentleman who went out of their way to find us a comfy spot to sit even though they were in the middle of a very busy lunch service. We had a lovely glass of wine & a coffee, both of a high standard. The food looked and smelled fabulous and after the personal service we received I will definitely come back to try the Sunday roast. What a great find!

Drovers Rest Farm Kitchen
Off Watery Ln, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordI randomly came across this place on a hiking trail. Saw the colourful sofas, the fairy lights and the lush smell of an open fire so wandered in to see what is was all about and ended up booking in for one of their ‘wild feasts’ that evening for me and a mate.
I loved it! We had pulled lamb burgers fries and banana cake fritters with ice cream. Amazing quality it tasted delicious. The service was soooo friendly. Fully stocked bar, welcoming friendly atmosphere. £20 for 2 courses so really good value.
The place is so unique all around a South African theme. The views are amazing it is such an oasis.
It’s a wedding venue plus restaurant on Monday, weds and Sunday lunch. You need to book online 24 hours before

The Granary
20, 21 Broad St, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordBest fried breakfast in town! The place - tonnes of character and a crackling log fire in the cold months. Piping hot food, sandwiches, salads, cakes and beverages - it's always busy and a real hub of activity. Great place for people watching too!

Shepherds Parlour
9 High Town, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordGreat cafe with some excellent food options. Most things were available as Gluen Free too. We stayed in Hay for a couple of days and ate here a couple of times. The food was always freshly prepared and tasty. The value is pretty good too.
Dietary restrictions: Most menu options had a GF alternative.

Angie's
25 St John's Pl, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordA fantastic little cafe with excellent service. After browsing the bookshops on the town, we were ravenous. We had bacon and sausage baps, the best I've eaten in many a days' march, followed up with a lovely slice of cake each and a great steaming mug of hot chocolate. The lady in the cafe was friendliness personified.
Highly recommended, well worth a visit.

Red Indigo
10 Castle St, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordA little gem of a find. Looking for somewhere to eat for an evening meal in Hay, i was surprised to find we didn't have to book (for only 2). Upon arrival we were greeted promptly, and friendly. We ordered poppadoms (we got an extra one free), with dips, -delicious, the wine was good value, the meal came quickly, all very hot and sizzling. The staff were friendly throughout and were not intrusive.
Altogether a lovely meal and great value. Thoroughly recommended.

Hay Castle Cafe
Oxford Rd, Hay-on-Wye, HerefordHad breakfast here twice during a stay near Hay despite having seen some less than favourable reviews. Was far better than other breakfasts that we had during our stay. The service was efficient, staff were friendly and the food was great. Portions were huge and everything was well cooked and served on a hot plate. Really couldn't fault anything.
