Here on holiday, everything was perfect, 4 of us had the lasagne and it was the best I had in a long time. The service was good and had a present time there....!

We booked a Sunday lunch for six the day before. The place looked nice from the outside obviously recently painted. Should have realised something was wrong when we arrived because the place was almost deserted at 1 pm on a Sunday. The food was terrible. The starter most of us wanted (pate) was not available. The garlic mushrooms on brioche were acceptable but a bit salty. The main course was a disaster. Everything was totally overcooked. The vegetable were gathered miserably in a soggy cluster underneath a previously frozen Yorkshire pudding. I had chicken and for a while I couldn't find it. I thought some rather dry strips of meat were bacon but it turns out that it was extremely dry and tough slice of what was once a chicken. The whole mess was tasteless ands soggy. Because it was a long overdue family reunion, we didn't make a fuss at the table and the bill was paid promptly. As we were leaving I spoke to the waitress and told her how disappointed we were with the food. She offered to get the manager but I was so fed up, all I wanted to do was leave. As I was driving out of the car park a woman came striding up to my car and started shouting at me. I assume she was the manager because she asked why I hadn't complained to her. She was extremely belligerent and I was quite intimidated when I realised several other people had come with her and were clustered together watching us. She said I had reduced the young waitress to tears which my friends who had gone inside again, confirmed was not true. She then screamed at me to leave and never come back which saved me the trouble of telling her I would never return. I will spread the word as I live only a few minutes away and I would hate for anyone I know to have this horrible experience. I was neither abusive nor threatening to anyone. If I could give a negative star rating I would.

A very pleasant pub with a good menu and atmosphere. We were very impressed with the amount of choice on the menu and the food that we did choose was absolutely divine. Presentation and flavor was fantastic and far more than I would expect from a pub in the middle of nowhere. The interior of the pub was a little bit tired in some parts but really not a problem when the food is this good. Will hopefully visit again.
