A lovely little cafe with very friendly

We had a good lunch of scrambled egg on toast, & a sausage sandwich with tea & coffee for only £10.50p. The sub-postmistress is the waitress, cook & post office counter staff, so she is sometimes pulled in several directions at once, so be patient & understanding & you'll be rewarded.

We really enjoyed stopping over for a bacon sandwich and a coffee on a very quiet Monday. It made me feel like I was a local, there is a nice window that lets light in and allows view to the village main street. Beware, if you see bad comments on Google review it could well be some locals who don't like the landlady, Montgomery seemed that kind of little weird place where neighbours don't really like one another...!

My friend and I came here on Thursday for coffee and were given a warm welcome by the charming lady who single handedly runs the cafe and the post office. We were offered newspapers to read as there was a short wait whilst she attended to post office duties. We ordered coffee which was extremely tasty and delicious freshly baked cakes, also excellent. It is a rather unusual set up but most pleasant and full admiration for the obviously very hard working owner.

We found other reviews to be an accurate reflection - good food and drink but unconventional service. Overall, I think the owner was anxious to get things exactly right and was trying her best to be in two places at once but if you are easily offended, I'd try elsewhere.

Delightful host, yummy soup and a warm, snug place to enjoy a cupper or a snack with friends.

Really nice service and homemade food.We loved the small room and the quality of food served. The lemon drizzle and the scones were delicious.

Lovely, quirky place. The lady who runs it was friendly and welcoming to my husband, me and our dog too. Limited breakfast menu but when the host explained the reason for this is that she also runs the post office at the same time we understood why. Had a lovely breakfast here.

This cafe seems to be part of the Post Office and run single handedly. The owner was very pleasant and running both quite capably. The scones were amazing - just melted in your mouth. The cafe is quite quirky with items to buy, books to read and lovely pottery and china. A definite place to visit when you find yourself in Montgomery, Powys.

We called here for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat before heading back on a 3 hour trip home. We asked if our dog was welcome and she said yes - we were the only ones there at this time. After sitting, the cafe started getting busier as well as the post office. The lady serving was on her own running both the cafe and post office. The only word to describe her is rude. She definitely needs to learn some manners and respect her customers - she made us feel very uncomfortable and un welcome. One of our coffees got spilt and I waited in the post office for 10 minutes to ask for something to clean it up as there wasn’t even a napkin in sight! I tried to help clean it and got shouted at by the owner saying ‘only I can clean it up not you’ - she then just said £4 for the coffees - no please or thank you or any consideration for the fact we wanted to order food. We paid and left immediately without drinking the rest of our drinks. Just avoid! But if you do choose to go, you will probably be turned away very abruptly anyways as she doesn’t allow more than 2 customers!

Lovely quirky place with possibly the best bacon sandwich we've had. It's a one woman show and she also runs the attached post office so a little patience will be required at busy times. When the locals use a place you know it's good ??
