Check in was straightforward and the staff were friendly. Room a little tired compared to other hotels but the location for me was just what I needed just off the A48. I appreciated the little sofa which converted to a bed as this helped with organising luggage and meant the room was a little bigger.Rooms: Rooms were a good size but no plug sockets by the beds so you need to charge your phone the night before/morning you get up. The heating option from the air conditioning unit also stopped in the middle of the night and I was cold.

It's a Holiday Inn Express, but I think it's better than the Holiday Inn in Coldra up the road. This is my preferred place to stay if I need to be in Newport for work. The hotel has plenty of parking space too so that's a real bonus. The terms are good, and clean. If there is anything that I think could be improved, it would be the breakfast, it would be great if they had a bit more of a selection, eg. Fried eggs rather than just scrambled ones (the scrambled ones they do are I think over done).

Great location closer to Cardiff, brilliant service, excellent rooms & facilities. We had cooked breakfast and for dinner Newport Town is 20 minutes away.Ample parking in front of hotel, highly recommended for everyone.

So overall it is a really nice hotel. First thing you are greeted with is a warm welcome and a smile. Check in was simply and no queue. Parking is controlled by a screen logging system (easy). I was on 3rd floor at the end of the corridor so I headed of to the lift. The lift was a bit scruffy around the floor but not too distracting. The floor was bright and well lit and at a perfect temperature. The room was very well presented. Nice fresh smell and everything in its place. Bathroom was slightly smaller than I thought but it had a great two way door that not only opened into the bathroom but also served as a private door to the lavatory. Great space saver.In the bar in the evening there was lots of space and a comfy area to relax. It was rather clinical so I can't say it was cosy but it was certainly was relaxing.The bed comfort was great with fresh linen. One small issue was the dreaded air conditioning. Either too hot or too cold. Breakfast in the morning was basic buffet. Would be nice to have fresh cooked eggs rather than scrambled but a nice selection for a business traveller. Maybe different if it was a family. Check out was seemlees with a smile. Location is a little of the track as there is not much in that area however 7 minutes drive and you have a small town with takeaways and food shopping. Overall price and value, this comes up high on list so a return is likely should I be in Newport again. Service and friendly staff make all the difference.

Had a bitter experience with the room toilet. The flush got stuck and the water was continuous throughout the night. Had informed the reception but none action has been taken.

I was here in mid-June for training purposes and stayed for five nights (I wish I would have stayed longer than that). My room was always kept clean, and I slept very well. Breakfast was really good.It felt very welcoming overall. Thanks for that.Highly recommend.However, the quality of the dinner has to improve just a little, but they were lovely too.

4th visit here for business rooms are comfortable and warm also very quiet hotel, I've stayed in a few holiday inns and I prefer this over the others the food is great will say pints are very expensive almost £6 for a pint. On this visit the WiFi has been up and down all evening which has been a pain but all in all I enjoy my stay here
