On Friday, April 11th, 2025, a group of 10 of us had a last-minute change in plans when our original booking at another restaurant fell through. We decided to give Tafarn Y Deri - Llanedi a try, even though none of us had been since well before the pandemic—and with new owners in place, we were curious to see what had changed. And we were so pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a lovely family-friendly vibe. The recent refurbishment has really brightened the space—it used to feel quite dark, but not anymore. The highlight for me was the gorgeous cloud ceiling with LED lights above our table—such a fun and cozy touch! The restaurant was spotless, with a great layout—plenty of space between tables so you don’t feel cramped. The ambience was relaxed and inviting, making it a really comfortable place to enjoy a meal. The staff were brilliant—friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely accommodating. We even had the pleasure of meeting the owners, who were just as lovely and clearly passionate about what they’re doing. Now, the food—wow. It’s not often that every single person in a large group raves about their meal, but all 10 of us were seriously impressed. We had a wide range of dishes, from perfectly cooked steaks and hearty lasagnes to flavourful curries and a classic ham dish. I went for the pie of the day—corned beef—and it was absolutely delicious. The portions were spot on, and one of the standout touches? Proper homemade chips—not the frozen kind you get in most places. It made a real difference. I also had the pâté starter, and it was fantastic—the onion chutney that came with it was honestly to die for. Yes, the prices are a little higher than your typical chain restaurant, but the quality of the food more than justifies it. None of us had a single complaint—it was worth every penny. I’d wholeheartedly recommend Tafarn Y Deri. They also offer takeaway, host special events, and run themed evenings, which I’m definitely keeping an eye on—we’re already talking about when we can come back. The Farmers Arms
152 St Teilo St, Pontarddulais, SwanseaWe were only in the area for a family funeral and only stayed for a pint though the menu looked ok for a snack. Pleasant fella behind the bar. A bit limited on choice of beers. Quiet for a Friday evening and those present were regulars enjoying their darts and pool. Seems to be more of locals venue but pleasant enough.

The Hot Wok
96 St Teilo St, Pontarddulais, SwanseaFirst time to use The Hot Wok and what a lovely surprise. Staff were very pleasant at the counter and the food was piping hot on collection.The food was lovely. All the meats were tender and cooked perfectly. We both enjoyed our meals which was chicken in a black bean sauce and special curry. The prawn crackers were very tasty and beautifully crisp!!A brilliant take away and one not to miss!!

Costa Coffee Roadchef Pont Abraham
M4, Junction 49, Pont Abraham Motorway Service Area M4 Junction 51, Pontarddulais, SwanseaWhat can you say about this place - its a typical costa in the services but clean and with friendly staff. They don’t always have all the food available so you might be disappointed if you are expecting the usual selection of foods.The coffee is good - as you would expect from Costa. All in all its a nice place and conveniently located at the beginning/end of the M4 :-)

106 St Teilo St, Pontarddulais, SwanseaThe Chicken Shish is amazing and don’t get anything like that anywhere else. The pizzas too are also fantastic and at less than half the price they are so much fuller and nicer than a local chain company. All of the food there is simply amazing. Wouldn’t use another take away over this one.

M4 Junction 49, Llanedi, PontarddulaisStandard McDonald's at a services, quite hectic and machine were playing up. There is a queue system for McDonald's, which proves the possible congestion during peak hours. Generally tidy and lots of other helpful shops and vendors in the services
